Ragtime (Milos Forman, 1981)
Ive just been reading Framing Blackness by Ed Guerrero and he seems to admire this film. Is it worth checking out?

Yes, for many reasons, not the least of which is to see what a transcendently great actor Howard Rollins was at his peak. Much like Brad Davis, he was gone far too soon with far too sketchy a resumé of work behind him.
