This looks like a price mistake, but I'm still tempted to order it from them.Bürgermeister wrote:HMV have A Time to Love and a Time to Die for £11.99

Re: 65 A Time to Love and a Time to Die
Pre-orders are always £11.99 at HMV for £19.99 RRP. I put my order in back when it was listed as a bog standard Eureka release though, so am only looking at £8.99...Telstar wrote:This looks like a price mistake, but I'm still tempted to order it from them.

HMV always seems to have reasonable prices, but their policy of not removing VAT makes them useless to me. Muriel is up on Amazon for the same price, why isn't this up yet?

Should be there soon. [The catalogue number entry for the unreleased Eureka version has caused a brainfart in Amazon's system.]

Serious brainfart. Can't you slap a little sense into them?peerpee wrote:Should be there soon. [The catalogue number entry for the unreleased Eureka version has caused a brainfart in Amazon's system.]

Re: MoC: Cheapest Prices / Best Places to Buy / Pre-Orders
Thanks for the update, I just pre-ordered.
Odds are good that the price will come down at some point before the release date, and with Amazon's pre-order price protection, I'll just keep an eye on any changes. I was waiting for this to be listed so that I could lock in the 11.99 price of Muriel. My loyalty to Amazon though relies solely on their VAT removal and price protection, so I'd be more than happy to go with someone else if a better deal pops up.

This is now down to £11.99 (or £10.42 after VAT removal!) on Amazon, which matches the price of Muriel.Yojimbo wrote:£13.89 on Sendit.com, free postage to UK and Irelandcodam wrote:A Time to Love and a Time to Die is up on Amazon now - £16.89 though..

Curious. Amazon's retail price for La Gueule Ouverte just mysteriously rose from £22.99 to £33.99, causing their pre-order price to shoot up to £24.99. HMV and Play's prices don't seem to have changed. Is this another Amazon brain fart?

When are the titles going to be cut in price? In the £4.89-£7.99 range? I would like to buy more but can't afford them.

From time to time you can catch them for £7.99, but your unlikely to find them new any cheaper because of the huge costs it takes to produce each title, think of MoC like criterion - you wouldn't complain that their dvds should be 7.99 would you?

I'm new to the overseas ordering and would like to know what the VAT is i see when i order? It seems many on here get money taken off for it and am wondering what it means.

VAT is a UK purchase tax. If you're buying from outside the EU you can have it removed. It is currently 12.5%.

Yes, quite right. I knew it was reduced by 2.5%, and, of course, it was previously 17.5%.
Anyhow, he won't have to pay it so that's ok.

Some sellers - notably Amazon - remove it automatically; others don't. This can be a significant issue when comparing prices. (I've never tried to force the point when dealing with a company that doesn't automatically remove VAT - has anybody had any luck with that?)tojoed wrote:VAT is a UK purchase tax. HMV.co.uk has great price for "Mad Detective" Blu-ray release - £13.99 (same as DVD)
BangCD.com has good price for "Tokyo Sonata" Blu-ray pre-order - £16.99. People from UK can probably get it even cheaper from other stores but BangCD offers free worldwide shipping so it would be the best option for me living in Estonia.

And Tokyo Sonata is 15.68 and they remove the VAT...
You can compare most of the prices at http://www.find-dvd.co.uk

"Mad Detective" at Amazon.co.uk is only available through other sellers with the lowest price of £13.98. I should add shipping and VAT to the price and last time I checked I can't even order from other sellers at Amazon. Same goes for "Tokyo Sonata"...
