I think it would be totally feasible kaujot. I buy a LOT of posters, vintage and new. I have a 2400 square foot home I am plastering with custom framed movie posters. Most of the ones I buy come from ebay and allposters. I've only bought a few from Criterion. If they did start dipping into the backlog of DVD cover art I see a thinning bank account in my future.

Even with all this shitty economic weather, there are plenty of posters that I'd shell out for. Yeah, the Godard's are great, and Grand Illusion is a classic, but what about, oh, The Blob, Throne of Blood, Eyes Without a Face, etc., etc?

There are probably some restrictions as to which posters they could sell. I don't really know how that works, but even then, just offer every Janus-owned poster on demand.

I guess it comes down to gimme gimme gimme, and I'm okay with that.

The Blob DVD when I bought it years ago actually came with a poster that I had framed. And if memory serves me correct the Withnail & I poster on my wall also came from a CC DVD. I think it's a great idea. And I hope they are reading this. And just to muss with us, the first poster could be the original cover art for Viridiana.

I have steared clear of the Moviegoods store because they are so shifty when describing their products. If you want an original poster, you can forget it at their store.

They used to say they were reprints or high quality art prints, now they say they are "new", whatever that means. I think it is deceitful even though I just ordered a an 11 x 17in poster (exactly the size of a xerox copy, complete with the 1/4 inch boarder - just like a xerox, which they claim is included "for easier framing".) It was the only way I could get the poster 'cuz size has become an issue with my collection and I now collect only small posters. The few films that put out small sheets are the US, Franch and early Czech posters. So if you are desparatley in love with a poster a repo is the only option (a cheesy one at that).

I just think that the Moviegoods store is lame (have you tried checking out using their customized PayPal system, that makes you type all your info in again and tries to tack on insurance and get you to buy their frames, totally obnoxious). I will update my opinion when I see the actual results. Hopefully I will be totally wrong.

I've never ordered from Moviegoods. How is the quality on those reprints? I'm thinking of ordering a 43" x 62" print of this poster for The Apartment, but I'm concerned about how it will turn out at that size.

I have a few of their posters (this, this, this, this, and this), which I never suspected or was led to believe would be originals. I guess my standards are perhaps not as high as some others, but I'm perfectly satisfied with what I have. They're printed on heavy paper, and the image is good. Like anything, you get what you pay for, and if you're not expecting vintage originals and will settle for nice clean copies, you'll probably be all right. At least, that's my experience.

By the way, it's been brought to my attention that MovieGoods doesn't participate in the Live.com Cashback program anymore, which is a shame.

I've also purchased a number of posters from Moviegoods and been quite pleased with them. You might see some imperfections or a slight softness on larger posters that have come from a smaller original source -- I have a 27x40 Cure poster that I believe had only been available as a chirashi-sized flier and up close you can see that it's been enlarged, but from any normal distance the quality appears quite nice.

They're relatively inexpensive, too, so these reprints make good candidates for mounting, instead of risking damage to an original.

I received the poster I ordered from Moviegoods Store and am more than happy to report that they use very high quality printers and I was more than satisfied with the results. I have read complaints when they copy older posters that are not in very good shape. That was not the case here.
