"The greatest respect" isn't necessary when a simple correction is fine; I wasn't purporting to have a first hand encounter with the thing, but admitted that it was through hearsay.

Not really a correction, just my opinion...and I'm always polite, I don't want to start an infighting and navel gazing thread :D

No worries. I suppose there's not much chance of my ever seeing a print, me being in the States?

available for pre-order and only $13. Will Amazon lock in that price if you preorder it? And this essentially means Criterion is not going to do their own on BD, right?

Any rumors or speculation on whether CC will reacquire the rights to this with a BD release?

I'd like a new feature devoted to the real Vivian MacKarrell.

I totally missed that, but awesome. it was basically a given anyway since the other Handmade titles came out. genuinely just glad more people can see this at Barnes and Noble and blind buy it

Was surprised to learn from Chris's review that this has a different commentary track by Bruce Robinson than the one originally recorded back in 2006 and featured on the Anchor Bay and Arrow editions. However, if you want to hear what's on the new Criterion release, it's this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4rZDnRXIkg

Another thing I was surprised to notice is that Criterion seems to have started providing SDH subtitles for everything on their discs with Withnail & I, including English-language commentaries and bonus features. They retitled the SETUP menu to SDH and when this is activated the respective subtitles appear for each program. This applies to both Withnail and How to Get Ahead in Advertising.

Curious to see if this is going to be the case for everything going forward, or if it will be reserved for the Janus Films stuff, where the SDH subs on the extras can be used for the closed captioning on the channel.
