I really hope not because it's costing me $5 more for every cardboard film which is pissing me off.

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on
Sorry if this has been addressed before (too lazy to dig through 90 pages, even with the search function), but is Criterion replacing The 400 Blows cardboard as well? Also, are they going to continue releasing Blu-ray flimsy cardboard boxes?

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on
Plastic cases are now standard for blu-ray Criterions. They might go cardboard if the DVD had a digipak (Marienbad, eg), but even that's not for sure (Monsoon Wedding had a DVD digipak and a plastic BR case).

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on
They have said they intend to eventually offer replacements for all of the original digipak cases. This is applicable to something like 10 releases I think. They have said that the replacement cases for those titles besides Third Man would be available in November, though I wouldn't be surprised if some take longer than this. Ever since Realm of the Senses or thereabouts, all but Marienbad have been in the new custom clear cases. (Though they have said that they intend to eventually offer replacements for Marienbad as well, for which the embossing on the cover sleeve will likely be abandoned.) It is my understanding that they are generally going with the new custom clear cases going forward, though they have not ruled out making exceptions in some cases.

That's good news for the time being. I got The Third Man in clear case, but The 400 Blows came in a flat cardboard box.

They said that the rest of the plastic cases (The Third Man was available in October) would be available in November. Any word?

"November" is Mulvanese for "December."aox wrote:They said that the rest of the plastic cases (The Third Man was available in October) would be available in November. Any word?

Mulvaney also said mid-November, at the earliest. I wouldn't get your hopes up, yet, just 'cause it's November.aox wrote:They said that the rest of the plastic cases (The Third Man was available in October) would be available in November. Any word?

Even if I haven't seen it, the Downhill Racer packaging is terrible. Way way way too bland and boring.

The Golden Age of Television looks great though, just hope mine doesn't get damaged in transit (my qualm about packaging like that). I can't wait to get my hands on a copy and just watch~

I really like the packaging for The Golden Age of Television. Gold and black look good together, but the design is spiffy as well.

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on
Well, I got my Blu-Ray copy of The Third Man in, and it came in the new, updated plastic case. Anyone who has purchased the updated plastic and no longer wants their cardboard case, let me know, as I want it (I'll pay you for it / for shipping / for your trouble).
Just post here or shoot me a PM.

Not yet, but they will eventually. This is really the kind of question you should be asking on Facebook though.

All I'm doing though is regurgitating Facebook responses from a few weeks ago.

That explains your earlier response in the Downhill Racer thread

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on
Hi there. I'm actually new to criterion films myself. My uncle has stacks of them and i've seen a few here and there but that was when i was much much younger and didn't understand them. After switching over to blu-ray i've actually become a collector now and i have a few questions. There are so many posts in this section that i couldn't figure it out. I'm actually looking for the information on how to purchase the new plastic cases for some of the older titles released like Chunking Express or El Norte. Is there a phone number to call or how does it work replacing them. Do i mail my cardboard case version and then receive my new one later on? Do i keep the booklet or will i get a new one? I'm alittle anal when it comes to how my collection looks
and right now the mixture of cardboard cases and clear cases is a massive eye sore. If there's a link that could give me all this info i'd really appreciate it instead of having someone make the effort of typing this info all out i know how repetitive forums can be

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on
Only the Third Man replacement case has been announced.. the rest are coming soon. They are $5 each which includes shipping. You basically send $$$ via paypal with the titles you need... All of them will have a replacement case offered including the titles you listed.
again, there hasn't been an announcement yet, so sit tight. Expecting one in the next month.

My apologies for the late response went out of town, so once the plastic covers for the others are announced all i would do is pay $5 by paypal and send it in? I wouldn't have to send my cardboard copy back to them or show some sort of proof of purchase?

nope. You keep the cardboard (I plan to use them to light a fire in the winter).Rhymes wrote:My apologies for the late response went out of town, so once the plastic covers for the others are announced all i would do is pay $5 by paypal and send it in? And it is $5 for each film/case. 4 cases=$20 and so forth.
