Is this the only thread on the AK100 set? I saw no others when I searched.

I only need one, but for some reason when I opened this one it was showing the most recent post as being sometime in september, so I was surprised there wasn't more recent conversation about it. It's showing the updated current posts now.

Did you order it from Amazon? If you don't buy from Amazon, expect to have problems with nearly every boxset.

Bullshit. I stopped ordering boxsets from Amazon because of repeated problems. Can't imagine they'd get one to me in decent shape. (Even if I did have a spare $284.99 floating around, nothing better to do with it, that is.)

I'd say all in all they're pretty good, but certainly had problems with them too. Not nearly as bad as the US, but they too are on my shitlist regarding boxsets. (Apologies for off topic stray.)

My box set arrived just some moments ago, as Napier said it is indeed a beautiful box set. I had my doubts before ordering it, after all, it would have been nice to have the special features for each movie in their "personalized" box etc. But since i only own a few, i had to order this, now that it has arrived i don't regret ordering it.
What a pity cyan, I ordered mine from amazon and it arrived in perfect conditions, How was your box set packaged? Did you order from amazon?

Amazon could avoid all of these broken DVD's and cases if they used packing material for crying out loud. I get big boxes with DVD's tumbling around in them like a dryer. I'm against Styrofoam, so we use bio-degradable wheat sorghum packing peanuts. And I'm shipping glass jars and bottles of organic unpasteurized Japanese shoyu and miso. I mean, even newspaper would help.

For those of us placed at a disadvantage for not owning the "AK 100" Box Set containing the quartet of early Kurosawa films, there is a a modicum of relief on the immediate horizon until they are released as an Eclipse series (assuming they will be). Turner Classic Movies will be airing all four of those "otherwise unavailable" films on March 23, 2010 (6 a.m.-11:30 a.m. EST), as part of an ALL DAY movie festival celebrating Kurosawa's centennial .
