Art Cinema in San Francisco
I have occasion to be in San Francisco from time to time. If someone could point me to websites of cinemas that show classic/indie/arthouse etc. fare in the City, so that I can better plan my visits, I'd be much obliged.

Definitely go to The Castro. I haven't been to San Francisco in over a decade or so but even as a young'un I was in love with the place. Looks like they have some great noirs coming up in January.

There's also The Red Vic (though their upcoming schedule may not be quite what you're looking for).

There's also the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the Roxie Theater, the Viz Cinema, and Artists' Television Access.
SFMOMA shows films occasionally as well.
The Film on Film Foundation isn't a theater but they show some great films from time to time in the Bay Area. Since they don't seem to have a regular schedule I recommend joining the mailing list to receive updates.
And of course the Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley is wonderful too...

Indeed, a stellar 10 day Noir festival to end January.LQ wrote:Definitely go to The Castro. I haven't been to San Francisco in over a decade or so but even as a young'un I was in love with the place. Looks like they have some great noirs coming
Most not on DVd according to the Noir Foundation:

Have to say I'm intrigued by the Belita, The Ice Queen of Noir double bill (Suspense & The Gangster) on the 25th.
Why isn't something like He Ran All the Way (1951) -- John Garfield and a Dalton Trumbo script -- out on Dvd?
