COLOSSAL YOUTH was shot on a Panasonic DVX-100 (ie. in SD). It has been since been output to 35mm, and Costa regards the definitive viewing experience to be 35mm.

I want to chime in for some Leisen too. Anything you release would be an insta buy for me, especially as it looks like the studios have given up on this sort of fare. I want more classic Hollywood in general. So many unreleased Minnelli, Leisen, Borzage, King films.

David, I saw a beautiful print at UCLA in 1981. I've always remembered it as a UCLA preservation print but I might be mistaken, in which case it was original nitrate. But being a PD title is a huge stumbling block to this title being considered commercially viable. I second the idea of a Leisen box wholeheartedly; three great unreleased titles are easy to configure from his filmography: SWING HIGH, SWING LOW; HOLD BACK THE DAWN; and NO MAN OF HER OWN. (Lombard and MacMurray are never better than when directed by Leisen, and that includes her work for Hawks, Lubitsch, LaCava, etc.)

An MoC "Woman in the Dunes" sounds well-nigh impossible, as the title has an excellent release from the BFI. Why not go for that release?

The World doesn't have a R2 release so I assume it'll be that one. Not my favorite (and I already have two copies due to Cinema Scope's reneged Colossal Youth deal) but would love to have a BD copy.

Well -- The World IS one of my Jia favorites (along with Platform). So I would welcome a BR release.

I heard somewhere else on this forum about The World being released through MoC and glad to know it's coming on Blu-Ray! The Zeitgeist edition has a pretty good picture, but aside from the Rosenbaum interview and a thin booklet, it doesn't really come with much else. Glad I held off on buying it at a used shop a few weeks ago.

Even if it isn't your favorite Jia, it's a very important one that makes his transition to his next period of films away from his early ones in his hometown.

Nick, any chance of any Hong Sang-soo in the future? No UK releases as far as I am aware. If MoC feel he's already covered by the US discs then how about (I know I'm treading old ground here) some Hou, Koreeda or Kiarostami? Been waiting for films by these guys for ages and don't want to plump for US releases just yet! Still hoping...

We'd love to do more Peter Watkins films. It's just working out what to do, and at the moment, we've got enough lined up for the next 18 months. We're concentrating on Blu-ray for the time being, and once the biggies are out of the way (METROPOLIS, etc) then we'll have more time for other things.

The HHH films are pretty tied up. We'd love to do them.

Is that 'tied up' in a good way (somebody else has the rights and is intending to issue them) or a bad way (the rights are such a mess nobody's touching the films with a bargepole)? Or would that be telling?
