Wait until you see Universal's new flipper DVD/Blu combos (if you haven't avoided it already) and their horrendous yellow advertisement on them (probably a sticker disclaimer). Not that anyone isn't aware of Universal's excellent marketing decisions and great DVD editions they've released since the introduction of the DVD format. Yes, there was irony in that sentence. You've been warned...

Hopefully, their Legacy Collection on will not suffer the same faith. But by the looks of it, it might become their standard for blu.

I wonder if there is both a DVD and Blu-ray version in there. If only there was some way to tell.

I was very disappointed in the film, but that shitty disc art is brilliant and makes me want to buy it! =D>
I don't know why Criterion just didn't make the shitty disc art the cover and made the already shitty cover the disc art. Would have made a lot more sense and been one of their best dvd covers ever.

It's little brother to the 'logic' that requires coffee-cup packaging to prominently declare, "Enjoy your hot coffee -- WARNING! HOT!!!"

that would have truly been their best cover ever if they had done that. Knowing that was possible now makes the existing cover all the more blah - and it was already pretty damned blah to begin with. But having spirals of shit with H U N G E R spelled in shit would have been pure genius.

Hey guys, remember how cool the flipper disc was? Well, now it's back, and it's going to eat your family.

Good to see that the dvd package for Lola Montes fits the other Ophuls releases. Looks great.

Is this the first month I'm going to want to purchase everything released? WOW I'd better get a second job.

Perfect cover art on everything, particularly Walkabout, even though I admittedly don't understand the purpose of the border since the actual center of the cover would be so strong without it.

Yay for Brakhage and Oshima! Although don't really like the color scheme for Oshima.

Is this the first month where Blu releases outnumbered regular DVDs? Rereleases also outnumber new releases too, 3-2 (well, 2 1/2-2 but still....).

Stagecoach art is a little lacking, and I don't understand the Walkabout border either. Good month, but I wanted Red Desert.

Best month of releases ever. I've been waiting for the Walkabout reissue for almost two years. Cover art on the Brakhages = amazing. I think my head just exploded.

You just know that Stagecoach is gonna have a sweet digipack for the DVD and a plain plastic case for the BD. :(

strong and thick plastic case > easily deforming cardboard case

Great line-up for May, by the way. 8-)

Wow, that's a hell of a month. I might actually be buying something for the first time in a long time.

That Stagecoach art is perfect, just wonderful.

I don't know how DVD shelves are in Estonia, eerik; but I can put a DVD on my shelf and it doesn't magically disintegrate.
