Just a heads up - the discount code AFS will take 25% off of all titles, not just the Kurosawa set.

Thanks a lot for that. Didn't know it was around, and I just used it to take advantage of my blu-ray pre-orders.

Thanks! It takes 25% off everything in your cart, not just one item. This includes the already discounted OOP StudioCanal titles - making the upper tier titles about $20 and lower tier $14.

Edit: OOP Essential Arthouse titles are just over 8 bucks!

Thanks for the 25% off tip! To order with that discount for one DVD shipped to Canada plus handling charges is still a poor deal but I made a bulk order decreasing the average costs per DVD which works in my favor with the current exchange rates and compared to other online retailers.

And another thanks for the tip. I had been waiting for a B&N/Amazon sale to buy some recently released titles, but I figure a 40% discount is good enough if the extra few % I'm paying goes directly to Criterion rather than a middleman.

Anyone know if it's multi-use? I'd like to do an order of preorders too...

It looks reusable; I ordered some Canal OOPs this morning, and I just tested the code on a preorder and it took the discount off in my cart.

Pretty sweet, domino -- you can get that Ang Lee preorder you've been jonesing for at like 23 bucks.

I used it on two separate pre-orders, domino. I think you'll be good for what you need.

I was lying before, seeing Skeet Ulrich in hi-def was the real reason I upgraded

How did you get 40% off? You just mean off of list price?

Yes, 40% off list. I know I could probably get them cheaper if I wait for another sale from B&N or Amazon, but I figure the extra few bucks is going to a good cause (namely, Criterion). (Now I'm also putting in a pre-order, which combined will get me 2/5 of the way toward the $50 gift certificate they give you if you spend $500.)

They must have someone working in the office on Sundays because my order from last nite has already shipped

Mine has also shipped...and I think I'll place another order. I had forgotten about a couple of Studio Canal titles, and now I think I should go ahead and get my Chantal Akerman on.

Amazon is out of Akerman Eclipse for a while, are they just out of stock?

Same here. Then again, it could mean they dropped it off in a box and once UPS/FedEx/whomever picks it up then the tracking number will show actual progress.

do they charge immediately for pre-orders or wait until they ship like other etailers?

they seem to have fixed the glitch. Code doesn't work for me.

ETA: It only takes 6% off?? that's SIX. bizarre. The remaining titles I wanted were three EHS...but I still can't bring myself to pay more than $10 for them - damned you B&N!! *shakes fist*

The code only seems to take off 6% now... Ugh!

And I had just spoken to the Barnes and Noble music manager tonight- who said he doesn't believe there's a chance for a 50% off sale this month- so I was going to order the rest of the OOP when I got back... Awful.
