Jesus Christ Oscar producers, you make Kristen Stewart and the wolf boy say it's been 37 years since horror films have been honored at the Oscars with The Exorcist?!! You even included clips from clean sweep winner Silence of the Lambs dumbshits!

Only possible award win funnier than Avatar for cinematography would be Precious for Editing. So, go ahead and call that one now

nevermind...they did put Rohmer in there. i just missed it somehow. That would have been hard to believe. FWIW, Karl Malden got the most applause (I hate that they don't wait till the end)

No. I couldn't believe it. If MJ got in for The Wiz, I'm sure they could have found room for her.

Am I this drunk (from the Precious: Based on the novel "Push" by the author known as Sapphire mentions) that I am seeing interpretive dance of "The Hurt Locker"?

I don't know. If Precious wins, then 'yes'. 2005 still holds for me.

I really did think last year's Oscars were as bad as they could get in my lifetime, but this is like one of those reference level perfect storms of ceremonial and award-based failures. I say bring on Rob Lowe and Snow White at this point

Starting to feel like Avatar is going to win it tonight. In which case, aox, you'll be wrong.

When I saw "Precious" at the NY film festival, I called it this year's "Slumdog Millionaire" (worst Best Picture ever in my book). I backed off that comment afterwards, but now I'm not so sure...

Any other year, District 9 would have taken that (Visual Effects). I didn't like the film, but I felt the visual effects/cgi were among the best and most realistic I have ever seen.
