Re: Criterion Web Site
I know this is reaching but since HUNGER has a release date and no other clues have referenced it...
(So as not to spoil this for anyone who has not seen HUNGER yet) There is a scene in HUNGER that is right out of Alan Clarke's ELEPHANT. This scene takes place in a Home for Ladies. This dose not account for "Idlewild" though.

Nice connection there, but Matt is right that the "Idlewild" clue is referencing Make Way for Tomorrow:

I think that solves everything then. Can't believe I wasn't getting the Bigger than Life reference.

So it's Four Feathers over The White Feather then?

Four Feathers was confirmed a little over a year ago and it will be from their Korda stock. Plus it was previously a MGM (now OOP)Korda, Zoltan - THE FOUR FEATHERS (Last Update: 11/08)

Re: Criterion Web Site
i figured it was four feathers, but got a little excited for a nice $29.95 tier western...and it's a pretty good one at that. Still the most glaring hole in the entire CC imo. The Furies doesn't come close to fulfilling that need. There's a whole lot of stuff not available anywhere that is more than good enough to be included....some Anthony Mann stuff would be a good place to start.

Re: Criterion Web Site
If we are really getting Stagecoach, a von Sternberg box, Vivre sa Vie (in Blu), and Red Desert (in Blu) this year, on top of the schedule for the first three months, then from my perspective, this will be the best year in Criterion releases since at least 2004.

Re: Criterion Web Site
I really wish Criterion would create a downloadable and printable catalogue just like MOC's. Of course, the site's functional and all, but a paper-friendly version would come in handy when we're away from the PC.

Re: Criterion Web Site
Criterion's site has crashed twice in the last hour. They must be flooded with responses from people vying for that Kurosawa box.

The Festival tab from the site is no more. Just as well since it hasn't been updated since October.

Courtesty of the Cleveland Cinematheque, the code 'CINE' now works for 25%-off at the Criterion store.
The Austin Film Society 'AFS' code is supposed to stop working after today, I believe.

I just tried it. And it doesn't work. Neither does the AFS code.triodelover wrote:Do you know how long it will work?ccfixx wrote:Courtesty of the Cleveland Cinematheque, the code 'CINE' now works for 25%-off at the Criterion store.

I tried the new code, removed everything and then the old AFS and both appear to be working.Napier wrote:I just tried it. And it doesn't work. Re: Criterion Web Site
Now that April's rolled around, neither discount seems to work. Can someone prove me wrong?
Let it be known, Criterion, that the secret 25% off discount created such competitive pricing on your site that I purchased more discs from you than I ever have at one time, just as MoC's sales have given me access to previously out-of-reach discs. I was about to go buy more Eclipse sets today and was foiled; here's hoping for another coupon down the road.

Because of that AFS code, I bought more films directly from Criterion in the past month than I have in the past three years. The CINE code appeared to work on Wednesday night, but it's not working now.

Re: Criterion Web Site
Because of that AFS code, I just about doubled my Criterion holdings (okay, admittedly not *that* big). At a time when I have two sets of medical bills coming in, a relative's major birthday, and the death of my car. It got to a point where I was just ordering future gifts...
But each one *will* be appreciated by people I know.

Because of that AFS code, I bought enough Criterions to literally fill a warehouse. I'm now shopping for a warehouse.
