Along the lines of cult comedies, don't forget about the Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy-- though ideally one day there'll be a special edition with all the deleted scenes (though I finally saw the workprint version and to my shock the studio-mandated changes actually did improve the film on the whole, if it did mean the loss of a couple ace jokes concerning an animal funeral and a necklace)

There's quite a Pootie Tang cult if you look hard enough. I am proud to say I saw it in the theater on opening weekend. Of the 8 or so people in the theater, my partner and I were the only ones laughing, but oh, how we laughed. And I have at least two friends who know what I'm talking about when I ask "Wa da tay?"

Considering the constraints of the PG rating, Pootie Tang was very funny.

Last summer B&N had a $3.99 online sale on some remaindered Paramount titles including 1900, Rosemary's Baby, Detective Story and Pootie. Nabbed 1900, but not realizing the how dire the DVD market was becoming, passed on the last 2. But Rosemary's Baby will be back, especially considering how old that edition was.

I've always had the theory that Chris Rock + Louis C.K. = Funny. And even in Pootie Tang, this proves to be true. Louis C.K. is the funniest stand-up comedian alive today, and he is *gasp* a pretty great comedic director, too. Oh, and tune into FX on Tuesday night.

Its a frightening thought but is it possible that this move by paramount applies not only to DVD but also to Blu-ray? If so what reason?

The Parallax View is also out of print, but it´s only £2.99 at amazon uk. I don´t think any of these titles are out of print in Europe. Also, the upcoming 48 hrs blu-ray, which seems to have been canceled in the US - as another poster pointed - seems to be coming out september in Europe (yay!).

Amazon prices have been mentioned throughout this thread, but I should point out that many of these titles are and have been in Big Lots stores for some time. I picked up SUNSET BOULEVRAD, DAISY MILLER and CHINATOWN months ago - along with some other titles mentioned here - at $3 a pop.

If that website that Matt linked to one page back is reliable, then I believe the DC of The Warriors is still available on DVD. The old edition and apparently the Blu-ray (!) are out of print. I think Once Upon a Time in the West is still available, as well as the special edition of War of the Worlds, and the latest DVD and Blu-ray editions of the Star Trek films are still available. The rest of those are out of print.

I picked up The Conformist since I've been meaning to get to it. Can't convince myself to get 1900 (never been truly fond of it) especially at some of the prices I've seen. Strangely the Brady Bunch movie is tempting... Pissed about never picking up Parallax View when I saw it cheap. Ugh, and 3 Days of the Condor. Goddammit! I assumed since there was a Studio Canal Blu-ray we'd be getting it on the format here. Maybe Lionsgate at some point...

I'm not ashamed to say I like The Brady Bunch Movie. I actually had both of them and sold them off just a few months ago. #-o
