I haven't tried anything as of yet but I imagine some sort of white noise ala Cage, Stockhausen? perhaps a group like Can? I thought about Throbbing Gristle but I don't have D.O.A. or 2nd Annual Report just 20 Great Jazz Funk Whatever it is. I imagine a group like the Japanese band Ghost would work as well.
I think Metal Machine Music could work too but then I'd have to buy Metal Machine Music which doesn't make much sense to me.
I humbly suggest Nurse With Wound, especially earlier albums like "Soliloquy for Lilith" or "Spiral Insana."

I would try Nurse with Wound or Destroy All Monsters if they can be found for a decent price.

How about the group Text of Light? Kind of Spacy and Kraut-y. Also named after a Brakhage film.

I once tried to watch "23rd Psalm Branch" while listening to The Orb's Pomme Fritz album. It didn't really gel, that album is too mellow for that film. I think the films work better as silents anyway.

And when they perform, it is live to Brakhage films.
Filmforum brought them to Los Angeles. I thought their music was great, and the films were great, but the music overpowered/didn't work well enough with the films.

I think silent Brakhage films should be played without sound. It was a nice experiment with Text of Light, and also one that showed why the films work better with no soundtrack.

Am I being pedantic for becoming annoyed at first that the blu actually does split Vol 1&2.

I should mention though that the two films in the set I've watched are fascinating and I don't think I'll have the repetition problems I did with the Keen set here. Things are going a lot slower.

Two things:

1) I don't think "pedantic" is the word you want here.

2) Are you really complaining that nearly 12 hours worth of material is spread across two discs instead of crammed into one?

That's not what I was complaining about. They have two separate digis for vol. 1 and vol. 2. I don't see why they couldn't have put it all on one extra fold digi. Movies are great though. Dog Star Man felt like it was running in reverse.

So, with the B&N sale, I have started looking at this set. But, a quick question: on the BD discs, do they feature a "play-all" function between all of the short films so they will essentially stream? Kind of like TV episode discs.

Yes, although the stream will be interrupted for a "graphic content" warning before The Act of Seeing... I believe you have to click to acknowledge it (and then the stream keeps going).

Yes, there is a play all function. On volume 2, there is also a cool option to view designated groups of shorts as a manageable "program."

To be honest, I am feeling uninspired in my own short film-making. Looking for some inspiration. :D

His films are somewhere between Kenneth Anger and Jeff Keen if that makes sense to you. It's a lot of slow edited abstracts that manage to tell oddly personal stories. I'm sure youtube has a few (if not the best) if you want to test them out. It's a very worthwhile purchase.

Slow edited? You must be joking!
