Well, I bought it- I figure, worst-case scenario, I've got a blu-ray I can't use encouraging me to get a region free player thrown in on a fair price for the dvd and t-shirt.

So if I buy it here, I'm guaranteed to receive the steelbook and not the regular case edition, right?

Probably release of the year for me. Pre-ordered. That said, am I the only one that actually prefers the standard case to these steelbooks?

Me too. Will the spine design you can see on the pre-order pictures of Metropolis be the final? Why no spine number and such? I'd rather have it fitting to the other MoC releases. :-k

I would also have preferred a standard case for sure.
I assume that there will be a spine number on the finished product. Most likely it will be #8, to replace the old edition.

There will be three versions available.

i.) The unlimited DVD edition (2 x DVD) in a standard DVD case, with sleeve, with spine number, and a wraparound cardboard sleeve (an O-card or whatever they're called). This will have a red sticker.

ii.) The unlimited BD edition (1 x BD) in a standard BD case, with sleeve, with spine number, and a wraparound cardboard sleeve. This will have a blue sticker.

iii.) Limited Edition Dual Format (DVD + BD (2 x DVD + 1 x BD) in a STEELBOOK which is probably going to have a green J-card partial wraparound thing now (instead of a green sticker).

The 48hr offer from Eureka (which ends today) was for the STEELBOOK only (inc t-shirt).

Even at 40% off, the steelbook won't be cheaper than 18 quid on release date, so basically you get the T-shirt half price. How many copies will the steelbook be, though?

Probably about 10,000 SteelBooks will be made.

Now that we have all the details, the prices, the T-Shirt design and the opportunity to choose the size, I can only say that it's a real bargain here.
Glad I have pre-order. And, as always, glad to see that you took the time to answer all the questions. \:D/

One other quick question:

For those of us who ordered the "48 hour special" before the page included a T-shirt size entry, what should we do to specify a size?

I pre-ordered a few minutes after the sale was online and this morning I received an e-mail asking what size I want for the T-shirt. Very likely you would get the same e-mail.

OK, cool. It's quite possible that I've already received it and just haven't seen it. I ordered just before I logged off for the night last night, and I can't check my home e-mail from work.

Now that we can specify the size, I put in two orders for the steelbook + t-shirt (one for my brother as well).
This`ll be one of the releases of the year, can`t wait for it.

Why didn't you buy 2 steelbooks? I am sure you could resell it for more than 10 quid, if your brother only wants the t-shirt.

because I know he`d want both the t-shirt and the steelbook. When I told him a while ago that MoC was gonna release it he told me to order him a copy. So I did

British medium size is different from American medium size, right?

Why is it so much cheaper? The only difference is the t-shirt?

British Medium usually = American Small
British Large to American Medium and so forth.

That said, I find the fit very similar to the Criterion/American Apparel fitted shirts- smaller than normal size but longer/not as square as normal small/mediums.

Thanks, Minkin. I just ordered myself a large with that steelbook. I'm particularly excited by that Kalat-Rosenbaum commentary.

I can't believe I missed the preorder offer. SIGH. I completely didn't notice this having been posted last week.

peerpee: If I order this on amazon.co.uk (now that the t-shirt offer is dead :() - will I be guaranteed a steelbook if that's what I preorder? Or is a chance they won't get enough fufillment?

If you are able to pre-order the SteelBook at Amazon you'll be guaranteed one. Amazon have a large allocation and they'll remove it from sale should they not be able to source any more.

Any ideas when the next Eureka offer email might be out? Some cash burning a hole in my pocket.
