Re: Warner Random Speculation
Many of those titles are single titles where the boxed set is still in print. Could be less dire than it seems

Re: Warner Random Speculation
Feltenstein's most bizarre interview yet where he says WB "bit the bullet"/martyred themselves in restoring their most popular classic titles for BluRay. It's a maddening read especially in light of what MoC, Kino and Criterion are doing in starting to develop older titles for BluRay.
He also says people like us complain too much

He's been a "VP" (actually SVP, which is even higher, but whatever) for at least a decade. And always, including now, a tireless supporter of everything this forum holds dear.david hare wrote:But don't forget George is a VP now, and people change when they ascend from the workshop floor (where he was a tireless supporter of Home Video) to management.

Re: Warner Random Speculation
I just wish Feltenstein would address WB's shift to an all-or-nothing approach with their catalog. It's either a deluxe boxset or Archive only release these days it seems. Remember the days when they would release a title on DVD with some nice extras and a decent print? Was that so long ago?

Re: Warner Random Speculation
To quote the Feltenstein feature: "The Warner executive considers himself "a film enthusiast of the highest order" and says that he reads "everything that people say on the boards." His experience is that "people don't go on the Internet to say, 'I just bought the 'Forbidden Hollywood' William Wellman set, and I just loved it.' But they'll be running to say, 'Oh my God, there was a scratch on frame three of scene five' these people are obsessed with trying to find something wrong." Rofl!
Having posted a recommendation for this (recommendable) box in the bargains thread and seeing the movies I am interested in dumped in this bleeding Archive - and I insist I won't buy this overpriced shit - I think all there's left to shout is: Expropriate WB!
I wonder, if this *** "film enthusiast" reads this, too.

If he does that, I'm surprised Feltenstein has time to release anything!Wu.Qinghua wrote:he reads "everything that people say on the boards."

Re: Warner Random Speculation
So he knows that we'd like an official release of The Devils as soon as possible?
(I couldn't miss the opportunity to bring it up!...Unlike Warners, obviously!)

Wouldn't that online petition with something like 100,000 signatures* be a tip-off?So he knows that we'd like an official release of The Devils as soon as possible?
*So I'm told. I didn't personally take time to count them.

Isn't this just a re-price? There was supposed to be a 2-disc SE in the works years ago which never materialised and now that Mr Pollack is beyond the barrier of sleep, it probably wouldn't be worth doing an SE. Terrific movie, beautiful scenes of violence for a PG.petevoelker wrote:Jeremiah Johnson is coming December 7

The previous release was in a snapper case, this is probably just a repackage.

They're releasing a lot of titles in December that have only been available in snapper cases. I saw some on amazon including, Altered States, The Haunting, Westworld, Coma, The Man Who Would Be King, Camelot (Richard Harris),
I hope Gaslight, The Bad and the Beautiful and Wait Until Dark will get keep-case releases soon.

If they went and fixed the disc so that it's no longer a flipper, I'll definitely buy this.petevoelker wrote:The Man Who Would Be King

I just can't believe they would reissue it still as a flipper. We are in the 21st Century aren't we?!MoonlitKnight wrote:If they went and fixed the disc so that it's no longer a flipper, I'll definitely buy this.petevoelker wrote:The Man Who Would Be King

Is the new Badlands DVD just a packaging upgrade, or is there better picture this time around?

If it's anything like the other upgrades Warner has been doing it's just a nicer package.

Re: Warner Random Speculation
Good. I really want to meet the person who thought snapper cases who were a good idea. Not to do anything violent to them per se, but just ask one simple "why?"
