Kuenne's inital desire to collect memories of his dear murdered friend in a medium that he was comfortable with doesn't at all strike me as odd or questionable....but I suppose we have reached an impasse.

To Mills defense I was saying(perhaps more delicately)the very same thing. Afterall if the film is to be believed than he started the film before knowing about Zachary, in which case why. It was set up early on that he was an amateur film maker. It really does reak, for me at least, of mercenary opportunism.

Whew, I don't feel like a completely incorrigible cynic then (or at least not the only one). I agree with mfunk and LQ that my thoughts are uneducated and presumptuous, but I would be lying if I stated that they didn't creep into my mind. In no way am I trying to come off as accusatory, if that makes any sense, as I don't have any grounds to base this off other than my own petty uncertainties.

You're making the assumption that everyone makes films in an effort to be recognized as an exceptional artist, and I just think it's not the kind of thing that has any business being applied to this film or this filmmaker.
