Nice, good to see they kept the beautiful design for this one and didn`t go Double life of Veronique on it.

Is there a consensus on whether Sweet smell is a digipack or a regular case?

Is that still considered a digi, though? A cardboard box housing a standard plastic case?

SSOS is a digi, like MARIENBAD or BREATHLESS

Possibly a different package for the blu-ray and the dvd. Waiting for pictures or the genuine articles... [dvdbeaver indicates "Transparent Blu-ray case"...]

There's nothing transparent about the Blu-ray packaging.

They also say that Warner's Network Blu-ray comes in a digibook, but it does not. So I guess DVDBeaver is wrong.fdm wrote:Possibly a different package for the blu-ray and the dvd. Waiting for pictures or the genuine articles... [dvdbeaver indicates "Transparent Blu-ray case"...]

That cover has really grown on me aesthetically. Excellent packaging design overall.

It's a nice cover and I quite liked the still chosen for the menus. The extras are worthwhile, too and the film remains among my favourites for the past decade (even if Afterlife is greater still).

I'm reminded of what a slapsticky cover they had for Smiles of a Summer Night, looks like a still from a Three Stooges short.

The new Solaris cover is only a minor improvement, but anything at this point would improve upon the original.

Because "Modern Times" just wasn't shitty enough I guess. Pure and total shit... when exactly did SwimmingHorses start working for Criterion?

I like how the covers for both Fat Girl and Smiles could easily have the caption added: "Seriously? Fat Girl?"
Also, I get what they're doing with The Great Dictator, but why?

I'd love to know how much they paid that graphic designer who did the Great Dictator poster a few years ago. Though I think they treated the text differently.

I also think the caption would work well on Le Diabolique.swo17 wrote:I like how the covers for both Fat Girl and Smiles could easily have the caption added: "Seriously? Fat Girl?"

For a film like Something Wild, am I the only one disappointed at it's non-eighties design? It looks more like a Saul Bass imitation.

That cover for The Great Dictator looks seriously artifacted, like it was blown up from a thumbnail image

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on Vol.
Like I said with Robinson Crusoe, nothing would surprise me at this point for a Blu upgrade. Get ready for Border Radio in high def this June.
The most egregious part of the Chaplin is that it is the second goddamn cover this year to use the double image motif.

Fat Girl: Logically, there was no need for this to see Blu-ray. Ever, even.
Something Wild/The Great Dictator: Holy crap, those are some godawful covers.
Diabolique/Pale Flower/Solaris: Holy crap, those are some excellent covers.
