So how about it, MoC? If you can do the Mabuse trilogy, how about a MoC box for the Indiana Jones trilogy?
Or just keep doing what you're doing. I haven't seen either of the Langs, but evillights' enthusiasm is enough for me to pick them up.

Absolutely. It’s visually spectacular, as even its detractors must admit, and the adventure story is fun, kinetic and wildly inventive in a way that recalls Rivette as much as silent Lang. The thing that brings me back to the Fantoma discs again and again, however, is the delicious ”Chinese-box” sensation of moving through an intricately rendered, multi-leveled world of fantastic spaces; something this film does with as much delirious ingenuity as films like Metropolis, Spies and The Testament of Dr. Mabuse. I’m in for the new MoC, and get a little dizzy at the prospect of a Blu edition.

I don't think we have the separate threads yet, but the reviews for Le Amiche and La Signora Senza Camelie have already shown up on Beaver.

We're overseeing two Eureka releases for May, and have two MoC titles planned for June.

That would be lovely, but also decadent of us. It'll hopefully become apparent when we announce things.

While you're in the habit of releasing director's films in pairs, is there any chance Rivette's Duelle and Noroit might get a MOC release? It seems a shame that this pair of films have yet to receive some English subtitles to go with their lovely transfers (which look BR ready to me). And you know, damn those Antonioni's look great - congratulations.

Yes, Noirot and Duelle would be amazing, especially as it looks like Criterion will be releasing little Rivette any time soon.... I'd snap these ones up instantly. Same with Pont du Nord!

I'm all for anything that results in Lubtchansky on Blu.

I had a look at his filmography on imdb, and as far as I can tell you're right. How depressing, Lubtchansky deserves better.

Pages for the Lang double feature are live:

Der Tiger von Eschnapur

Das Indische Grabmal

This might be a weird question but I'd like to know whether the french trailers will be subtitled. I don't speak french but would love to properly watch them too :)

Nick, any chance that the recently completed restoration of Pál Fejös' Lonesome could earn a spine from MoC? Our forum did recently name it the fifth best film of the 1920s...

I second the nomination if it wouldn't be too much to ask.

Thirded, of course. And anything else by Fejös, too. I can't think of any other director as neglected and as important.

Thank you! A quick search showed that this seems to be a director really worth seeking out. Perhaps you want to post something on him in the 30s list thread? But in any case, Val del Omar seems to have several dvds out, which can't be said about Fejös.

Could you direct me to those DVDs. I wasn't aware they existed. Ever since seeing Fuego en Castilla I have been in love with his film world. He manages to accomplish what I feel the Soviets(particularly Eisenstein)only really worked out the theory of. For example that film(which I am sad to admit is the only one I've seen)manages to make a giant epic out of a museum. If there's anything to convince someone of the power of documentaries it's that.

This dvd set contains some of his films. I don't own it myself so I have no idea of the quality and my Spanish is rusty. Although it seems they only ship within Spain.

It's also available here, they ship worldwide and they have very reasonable shipping.
