Is it weird that I went back and slo-moed the slo-mo of Britta dancing? Gillian Jacobs is seriously the most beautiful actress on television.

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering: Bill Lawrence is still a really cool guy.

I love that there is apparently a legion of outraged Cougar Town fans that believe that they have just been glove slapped.

I liked Scrubs a lot and enjoy Lawrence's brand of humor, but there is no way whatsoever that I'm watching a show called Cougar Town. There are probably a lot more people like me in that camp - I can't believe he OKed that title and continued to work on the project.

Not to come off as DVDBeaver or anything, but after a quick Google search, I think I may have found a reason for me to check out that movie "Choke".

It is perhaps worth pointing out that my younger brother's favorite ep of Community is the chicken fingers one, despite the fact that he has never even heard of Goodfellas. Moral: The better shows discussed in that article work on their own merits. Getting the references is just the icing on the cake*.

I thought something similar about Arrested Development and its Bush-riffing, especially the finale. Swo's right that shows like these are funny enough without needing contextualizing within an era to get them, Community and the Simpsons work because they create a universe that the shows exist in and as long as you're privy to it you won't be too left behind. A few of the Simpsons jokes discussed in the article I didn't pick up on (The Great Gabbo for one) but it didn't stop me from enjoying them. Although understanding the references make for a much more enjoyable experience, the finale of AD wouldn't be half as funny if you had no idea what went on in Iraq.

The 3rd season of Arrested Development was by far its weakest, even though they were current references in context, the middle east stuff was super lame.

The third season was my favorite so we'll have to agree to disagree on that.

Well, at least it was one of only four television shows ever that weren't pernicious, or made for commercial gain.

Lawrence constantly makes fun of the title whenever possible, including throughout the show itself (for awhile he expressed his displeasure on the show's title-card), so he's made his frustration with the title quite apparent. It really has evolved passed the original premise into a kind of middle-aged (though less inventive) "Community." As Abed states, "it's good," and I believe Harmon agrees.

I like quettle quorn. It was funny and sad. The lesbian episode (it was from this season right?) for me is the weakest out of what I've seen from this season.

I thought it was better than the political debate, the Fiddler on the Roof parody gave me a good laugh.

I think the only big laugh I had was the 1-2 of the professor's drawer contents, though Annie's line about the Joke Class was good. Quettle Quorn is probably still the worst episode of Community to my eyes, but I see we all have our own opinions!
