Has anyone heard anything about this neglected gem of a movie ever surfacing on DVD? I've seen a few bootlegs floating around but with varying quality. Man, this movie has haunted me ever since I saw it many, many years ago. It has images (like the one below) that continue to stick in my brain. And yet it is rarely written about or mentioned.

I found one place, Trash Palace that is selling a copy of it that promises a decent print. But the question is it letterboxed? Does anyone know the original aspect ratio of this movie?

If I'm not mistaken Paramount owns the North American rights to this movie. So, who knows when it will ever see the light of day on DVD....

I always thought it was a made-for-TV movie so I doubt it would be in a letterbox formet.

Excellent news! Though you have to admit that it's odd that Paramount are releasing this long neglected gem before If...., Reds, Ace in the Hole, etc. And The Conformist has still to be officially announced, thought it is on the way.

But I'll look forward to seeing this one again. I saw it on rental VHS back in the early 90s and a few images have remained in my mind, thought I don't really recall the much of the film, it's qualities, rhythms, performances, etc, so it will be fun to re-experience it in high-quality anamorphic widescreen.

Cheers, Fletch!

No probs. I really dig this movie as it is a great example of the less-is-more school. Great atmosphere and a very eerie tone that permeates throughout.

I think that they are finally releasing this film on DVD because a remake is in the works. So, maybe they are testing the waters and seeing if there is still any interest in this movie.
