Certainly there were hints of the post-apocalyptic, but I really don't think the makers were trying to do that. I really think they would have been much more at home had they gone in that direction and just dumped the Western pretenses.

My takeaway from this week's episode: an adaptation of Red Dead Redemption starring Josh Holloway.

What a snooze this episode was. Everything that was loose and fun about the original paintball episode was so goddamn overcooked here. I am getting really worried about Community suffering from the same kind of self-awareness that kills most comedies after they gain a loyal fanbase.

Gillian Jacobs is too perfect, like everything she does just proves her perfection more and more.

What was the tweet?

Way to run something great into the ground. Not looking forward to next year's two-part billiards finale.

I mean, yeah, it was better than last week's episode, but anything would have been. A couple good laughs but, uh, they should have made the pregnancy episode the season finale. I disagreed with a lot of the naysaying comments about theme episodes this season, but this really better not be a grim portent of things to come-- complete wankery. I actually liked last week's episode more, the only time I laughed tonight was when Abed quickly reverted back to regular Abed from Han mode. The whole plotline with Pierce being ostracized from the group this season was super lame, it's too bad that's how they decided to end it.

But here's the good news: in 4 months or so, they're going to have 22 chances to get back on track \:D/

I actually had a real fun time with this episode even if it was more for the Community elements than the strength of the comedy or consistency of the episode. Also I'm desperately curious how they'll play with that cliffhanger. Has to mess with Jeff's daddy issues to the supreme.

Edit: also blink and you'll miss it toilet humour

The Internet, sadly, seems to agree with knives that this was yet another stellar yarn and not a stale yawn

I gotta agree with Murdoch that I liked last week's episode more. The only line/joke I liked this week was Leonard admitting he was a rascal. To be honest, I think they might have (and I know some hate the phrase but I don't know what else to call it) jumped the shark with the finale.

It's difficult for me to think the show has reached a nadir after one failed theme episode. If that's the case, I should have stopped watching after the Apollo-13-themed episode.

I am in agreement that I liked the first-half of the two-parter a bit better, but I did get a kick out of the brief glimpse of Laurie and Travis popping up at Greendale.

My Dinner with Abed

... and, as expected, Abed popped up on Cougar Town's season finale. It was much more obvious than Laurie and Travis visiting the Greendale campus, but I was kind of disappointed that it wasn't an exact recreation of the scene described in "Critical Film Studies."

Dan Harmon confirmed on Twitter that the season two DVDs would also have commentaries on every episode like season one, and he has no idea if there will be a Blu release (so, no)

In a way I'm sort of relieved re: the Blu release thing. While it'd be nice, it's weird for my shelf when shows only have Blu-ray releases for some seasons and not for others (I'm looking at you, How I Met Your Mother Season 4)

I would also rather not have mfunk's shelves look weird than have my favorite show in HD.

Part two's already up, and the alternate ending to "Aerodynamics of Gender" sounds like a real missed opportunity.

Anybody read part three? Harmon has some real extreme self esteem issues, than again it does seem like a very tense work situation. I know I wouldn't want to be in his shoes. also by the sounds of it he didn't like the climax either.
