Another "sci-fi classic by one of the world's most masterful filmmakers"... is he not teasing at the upcoming run of World on a Wire?

As a german, I can actually say that Fassbinder is not a "masterful" director... however, World on a Wire is probably the best german film (rendering my previous statement completely absurd). If Criterion picks this one up, I would be more than grateful!!

First Umbrellas of Cherbourg is strongly hinted at by Criterion Cast, and now Three Colors Trilogy is basically confirmed by Criterion's twitter? I'm in Criterion heaven!

Could you please link to that tweet? If this is real, then I am in heaven as well, as my DVD's of the trilogy... well, the old versions look like pudding.

Along with Three Colors and Welt Am Draht, time will seem to be standing still until at least one of them comes out. Then the next. Then the next. Kind of like one of those days at work where it's 1:00 and six hours later it's made it to 1:30.

Ryan predicted it back on the eve of the April announcement for the July titles back on page 45 of this thread. He then followed it up a few posts later with the following:

I'm not 100% on Demy, just a gut feeling, but nothing confirmed.

I think Jeff summed it up the best when he stated:

Didn't realize it was a possibility, but now I'm intrigued. I imagine Ryan's "guess" is based on something. Doesn't look like it's going to be this month, but perhaps it's in the works.

To which Ryan followed with:

It's not looking good for Umbrellas of Cherbourg today [for July release]. But who knows, maybe Criterion will surprise us all.

In summary, is it true? One can only hope. But Ryan's track record about these things is pretty strong, to put it mildly.

I'm sure this belongs in another thread, dedicated to the film, but I thought I'd post it here since there was some recent talk about it.

I emailed Mosfilms about Stalker getting a US Blu-ray release, and this is what they had to say:

"Please be advised that so far there are no plans for Blu-ray of STALKER, 1979, director Andrey Tarkovsky, for the US."

So, there you go.
