Dammit, I was going to post that when the news broke that Image licensed the Post-Corman New World titles from Lakeshore, but I couldn't find any confirmation that New World still owned the film. ](*,)perkizitore wrote:C.H.U.D. is forthcoming after all

I don't doubt it's real; it's just that Image, not Criterion, will be releasing it.

While this shouldn't come as a surprise the copy of Kameradschaft TCM is playing comes with a Janus logo. The transfer and subtitles look really old though so I doubt it is being worked on.

I know I played this game last year, but here's a look at the Cannes Classics lineup from this past festival.
If nothing else, it helps give some credit to The Conformist rumor and a Children of Paradise Blu. Anything else on that list rather likely? (other than the long promised WCF film(s))

Man, I really hope they don't drop the ball on Y tu mama tambien and release it with slim supplements. I've been anticipating this title for quite some time, and I hope the final results are at the very least impressive.

Quite unusually, Friday's 'Repertory Roundup' gave the spotlight image to Le Rayon vert, a film neither in the collection or on Janus's slate. A plug for the Six Moral Tales set, obviously, but perhaps also something of more significance.

Oh god yes, one of Rohmer's best, and one of my favorite films, I would love to see a CC treatment of it, especially a nice blu.

I just watched Le Rayon Vert last night. I couldn't stand her character, but Marie Riviere was great. The scene about being vegetarian has got to be one of Rohmer's funniest scenes.

The Phantom Carriage will be on TCM next Sunday (6/19); a chance for an early preview, presuming it will be announced as an October title sometime this week.

After August comes September, not October. Just saying.Tom Hagen wrote:The Phantom Carriage will be on TCM next Sunday (6/19); a chance for an early preview, presuming it will be announced as an October title sometime this week.

Re: 'Forthcoming' Lists Discussion and Random Speculation Vo
is there some confirmation of an upcoming Criterion of La Peau Douce (The Soft Skin) ? perhaps not for the next Criterion announcement, but is it more than just a hope....? [-o<
I'm in love with Françoise Dorléac and although the announcement of Cul-de-Sac for this summer is fantastic, this could be heaven with a new Truffaut (2 Truffaut on blu-ray is not enough!)
we know that there has been a restoration, it has the Janus logo, moreover it appeared on Hulu with a Criterion arwork with the wacky "C".
By the way, how come a movie has a Criterion artwork on Hulu if it is not planned to be released on blu-ray or DVD (I know that La Peau Douce was released years ago on laserdisc)
regarding Carlos Saura, Peppermint Frappé would be great - because it would be a new Carlos saura to enter the Criterion catalog.
But I watched 2 weeks ago Cria Cuervos and was thinking that the picture quality of DVD was sooo good that a blu-ray would look fantastic !
A Rohmer blu-ray upgrade would be great : le Genou de Claire or cLA ollectionneuse for instance... Nestor Almendros photography deserve a blu-ray treatment. And the DVD transfer is already outstanding... the Criterion transfer because French DVDs sucks... :-&
and is there some news about Les Parapluies de Cherbourg (Umbrellas of Cherbourg) ? it will be release on blu-ray in Japan on July (with Peau d'âne and les Demoiselles de Rocherfort (already released in France on blu-ray); and I can't imagine a restoration for such a movie that would only see the light of the day on blu-ray in Japan.
I've tried to find some informations about a new restoration of Les Parapluies de Cherbourg through Tamaris but did find nothing...
And as far as I know, no other Jacques Demy blu-ray is announced in France by Arte...
well, it's only a dream but Atom Egoyan's Exotica [-o< [-o< and in order to help me to handle the end of Blow Out : I need badly to see Nancy Allen in porte jaretelles in Dressed To Kill

The Soft Skin is in the midst of theatrical distribution - I saw it here in Chicago just last week. Seems like a Criterion release is a foregone conclusion, but it'll be awhile. Patience!

Has CC hinted at Renoir's The River for BD? I would be shocked if this came before The Rules of the Game.
(and obviously The Grand Illusion is out of contention)

The River is expected in France this year via Carlotta. And they will use Criterion's master.

Stoked at the thought a Sjorstorm (spelling) film will make it. He's been on my needing to view list for a few months now.
Why is Grand Illusion out of contention? I think The River looks great even though there is noticeable color pulsating. None of them are in that bad of shape in my opinion...

Does anyone know who has the US rights to the Comedies and Proverbs? It has been out of print forever and would be great if Criterion / Janus has picked it up....Cinéslob wrote:Quite unusually, Friday's 'Repertory Roundup' gave the spotlight image to Le Rayon vert, a film neither in the collection or on Janus's slate.
(In the same vein, I thought it was equally strange when they tweeted about Bela Tarr's Satantango a couple of weeks ago. Mostly likely nothing, be we can always hope...)

What about the screen-grab of Trois Couleurs: Rouge they posted? Could this be up for this autumn?

Announcements for films they posted stills of on facebook have come pretty soon after the reveal so Three Colors should be announced for some time in the fall.

Re: 'Forthcoming' Lists Discussion and Random Speculation Vo
My prediction for September's titles:
Emigrants/New Land
Phantom Carriage
Carlos
Y Tu Mama Tambien
Cria Cuervos... (Blu)
Two-Lane Blacktop[?] (Blu)
Six Moral Tales[?] (Blu)
I'm having trouble guessing the blu-ray updates this month. These picks don't seem too outlandish, though.
I just saw Jerzy Skolimowski's Moonlighting this past Friday at the Harvard Film Archive. That must be one of my five favorite films, but the print wasn't so good; with the film being grainy throughout and one scene being dropped almost completely. I hope that this one is on Criterion's radar. Skolimowski was supposed to appear and speak at the Archive on Saturday and Sunday, too; but he unfortunately fell ill. My sentiments go out to him in this rough time of his.
