I don't know if it's a significant upgrade but for me it was appreciably better to the extent that I was a lot more involved in the film than when I watched Criterion's DVD.matrixschmatrix wrote:Is the Burmese Harp blu a significant improvement over the Criterion? It sounds fascinating (though the only Ichikawa I've seen was Tokyo Olympiad, which was amazing) but the Beaver comparison makes it unclear which is the way to go.

I had to wait until I had money in hand. Was going to go to the bank today, come back and order. Aaaaaand now I have $200 that I would really prefer was in Eureka's hands, and no Blu-Rays on their way. Annoyed.

If you put anything in your shopping cart but didn't actually buy it earlier, it will still be there- I got La Signora, The Burmese Harp, and Make Way for Tomorrow this evening.

Six calendar days from order to delivery to Australia. Fantastic service Eureka and probably your finest sale yet.
Meanwhile in another universe at DeepDiscount, the wait continues for an order placed in their sale over 3 weeks ago to be despatched!!

Mine just arrived, must have been delayed by the ash cloud or Tiger Airways or something. Thanks Eureka (and Kevin especially) for excellent service.Stephen wrote:Six calendar days from order to delivery to Australia. Fantastic service Eureka and probably your finest sale yet.

Nothing besides pre-orders, OOP, and Blu? And I actually have some money to burn after not having much for that last sale. Ah well. The August titles and Metropolis will suffice.

Re: MoC: Cheapest Prices / Best Places to Buy / Pre-Orders
If any of you Eureka chaps are here having taken time out of fighting the repossession of your illustrious brand name, is there any chance of adding Faccia a Faccia, Coeur Fidele and Pigs & Battleships to the August offers? I’ve bagged the fascinating August titles but was slow off the blocks with the June releases. I’m sure other forum members would like to purchase these directly from you guys.
Can’t wait for those big editions later in the year by the way. Keep up the good work and the necessary fight.

We're probably going to be having another offer mid-month. Blu-ray page will remain the same but I'll probably throw up some DVD's.AlexHansen wrote:Nothing besides pre-orders, OOP, and Blu? Re: MoC: Cheapest Prices / Best Places to Buy / Pre-Orders
That seems like a very decent price. The Silent Running steelbook is up now on Amazon. I would be surprised if the £17.99 price tag sticks. Amazon normally put up a leader price and when other e-tailers start listing the edition, bring the price down accordingly. I imagine this will finish up around the £14.99 mark in a week or so.

Re: MoC: Cheapest Prices / Best Places to Buy / Pre-Orders
With all this "Pre-order, and we will see how much we need to press", I'm compelled to pre-order on Amazon and HMV the Steelbooks, instead of doing it directly on MoC usual newsletter page. Moreover, I just pre-ordered ToE steelbook on HMV, but how many pre-order will there be ? What if there is too many at some point compared to what this limited limited run is supposed to be ? Or did already MoC gave indications to HMV of how many there can be, which means they already know how many they're going to make ?
I find this way of doing more and more annoying, and think MoC will have an hard time compilating the datas. Especially if some people are waiting for the MoC newsletter to pre-order, which, if it's as usual, will be available once all the work is almost already done. I don't see MoC doing 200 or 300 more ToE BR edition or more Silent Running Steelbook 1 months before the release date.
I honestly don't really care about the price, and even find the £2.5 of shipping to France from HMV not that expensive. I'm just hoping MoC know what they are doing, and are not doing something too experimental with what could easily beat their sales of Metropolis BR.

I'd like to get a definite response if we will be able to preorder the steelbooks via the MoC newsletters or not. This uncertainty is not helping.

The twitter announcement is very clear, what don't you understand?
Silent Running will be available everywhere, but Touch of Evil can only be purchased through HMV!

Re: MoC: Cheapest Prices / Best Places to Buy / Pre-Orders
It is not clear at all, as it doesn't mention Eureka's own sales in any way, shape or form. After all these are limited. What if too many people pre-order the Silent Running steelbook from Amazon; will I still get one in Eurekas (usually last-minute) pre-order sale?
