Very pleased with the two horror covers, especially Lost Souls, and I quite like Four Feathers as well. So glad I didn't pull the trigger on the UK Blu of Dazed lately though it goes for nearly three times less the price than what Criterion are asking for.

PS.: Can't believe Criterion didn't change the cover for Harakiri, and MoC must be pleased to be first out of the gate by a month.

A lot of upgrades again though. Wich I think is too bad, I feel they should better put their energy into releasing yet-unreleased films.

They've only done 55 upgrades so far with two of them being a bit mandatory considering circumstance and a few being whole new transfers and extras.

It seems as though they've stepped up their output to the point where they're putting out as many new releases as they used to every month, plus upgrades and Eclipses. I'm kind of worried that they seem to be putting in less effort on extras than they used to, but I suppose it might just seem that way because there's no longer really a $30/$40 price point distinction.

The price for the Antonioni is cool; the cover is absolute shite however. An all-time bad cover.

Much like their cover for Red Desert, there's nothing wrong with it from a pure design standpoint. It's just boring.

well, as the description notes, it's taken from the central grand set piece of the film, so a pretty obvious choice. I think it looks great personally, though ironically the most similar cover yet to Red Desert. But that's pure coincidence I'm sure.

Island of Lost Souls may be my new favorite cover. Four Feathers is great too...frankly, there's not a bad one in the bunch, which is the first time that's happened in eons.

That's silly....they've only upgraded 10% of the collection...there's 400 or so to go yet. And for many many fans of the company the blu rays are all they care about anymore - particularly the subset who buy ever single blu ray they release because they are blu rays...but as you post suggests, they are damned if they do, damned if they don't. There's an Eclipse set and four new films to the collection though, so I'm not sure how you can complain as pre-blu ray that would be on the high side of an average release load. It's not like the 3 upgrades are impacting the amount of new stuff each month.

yeah that`s true I guess.
Thing is, personally I`m not interested in upgrading every film of the collection. Like Naked, High and Low and Salo have allready gotten great dvd releases so that`s good enough for me. The dvd`s are stacked with the same extra`s as the blu-ray`s will be so (obviously other than the picture quality) there`s nothing new to them. It`s a different story if you look at the release of for example Diabolique and Shock Corridor: they were some of the first dvd`s they put out and were in need of upgrade (picture and extra`s wise) so I of course don`t have a problem with upgrading them.
Ah well, each his own I guess. I just spend money buying films I don`t already have rather than buying everything I already again.

If you look at this upside down, it looks like a tear drop. Very very clever! Really fits the mood of the film!

We're always speculating that covers will look better in hand than they do onscreen, but Leon Morin is the opposite of that. It looked OK if not inspired on screen to me, but it's a low-res still that they used and it doesn't look very nice. If not for the wacky C and a stately font, it would look like some cheap public domain thing. Disappointing.

That's a shame. I like the color scheme and the cover isn't outright offensive or anything... I sort of hoped it would be a stunner in person.
