The Lina Wertmüller Collection is out on Sep 6, and includes one of the truly great films of all time, Seven Beauties. That was an early Fox Lorber release with a solid transfer. I wonder if Koch is able to improve upon it...

I would be very grateful if anyone who's seen some of the other movies in the box can offer their comments (I've only seen "Beauties")... thanks in advance.

I had no idea Koch Lorber was releasing this, and this is excellent excellent news.

"Seven Beauties" is among the most lurid films I've seen, and I now consider it a favorite.

Amen to that! I LOVE Shirley Stoller as the nazi commandant who demands to be serviced - immobile like a giant termite queen. Immensely intimidating!

I'd be hard-pressed to pick my fave Stoller film between the likes of this lurid classic and the schockingly amusing Honeymoon Killers. Did she participate in other vehicles even approaching these levels before her premature death?

I sold all my R1 Lina Wertmuller releases before buying this box set. It will be a shame that they are not 16x9 anarmorphc transfer.

I got this set today. I have only looked at "Seven Beauties" so far. A casual look at it suggests that this is the same version as the original Fox Lorber DVD (4x3 Letterbox). Why would Koch Lorber issue a set like this without creating a proper anamorphic version of the most important film in the set is beyond me.

Second that. Only "swept away" and "summer night" are anamorphic transfers while the rest 3 are all 4:3 letterbox versions.

The only bright spot is that the image quality is vastly improved as compared to the original Fox Lorber releases (swept away, seven beauties).

KOCH LORBER FILMS is finally releasing Seven Beauties and Swept Away individually on April 4.

I still have the Fox Lorber dvd which came out in 1998 which had no extras. This new one will have a interview with the director and a choice of audio but i do not see a trailer for the movie.

Beaver reviews Seven Beauties. I highly recommend this disc. This is the only R1 edition available for this masterpiece. Swept Away is also great.

Lizzani interview to Wertmüller has got an atrocious sound, horrible quality. Lina's accent is so strong that hardly I could understand her Italian, and the subtitles are yellow and hard to read.

The director's mind is dispersed. Is she healthy? I found her mind lost, living on her past. The interview is too long and not exhausted, quite odd if we think how Lizzani has made wonderful documentaries for RAI tv about Rossellini, Visconti and Giuseppe de Santis.
