Criterion, if you haven't noticed already, please fix the The Phantom Carriage spine before firing up the press again (it isn't centered):

Ours is centered. I'm surprised it's taken you this long to find a [very slight] printing error with the wacky C spines. It happens, dude. Go take a brisk walk or something.

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on Vol.
I'm sure it's just a one-off printing error. My copy of Sanjuro is off-centered like that, and my Fear and Loathing is cut about a quarter of an inch shorter than the rest of my CC blus.

It looks like your cover is just pulled too far in the front. Nevertheless, I demand a repressing of the entire stock to avoid future posts like this.

Try repositioning the slick in the cover. There's generally some wiggle room with these and such positioning anomalies happen all the time.

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on Vol.
I currently have the same issue with The Magician, and something even more funny with Everlasting Moments, since it looks like the spine C, the vertical "Criterion collection" and the spine number are just not in line with each other, looking like this :

C
R

O
N
C

L
L

C

I

But I don't really care, since I have enough non Scanavo titles around them to make it less obvious.

Yeah, I've seen multiple copies of The Magician that are all like that, and no amount of fiddling with the sleeve can quite get the type centered. But um, life goes on.

What swo17 said. I'll only write about the shape of Criterion butterflies in future though, promise!Murdoch wrote:It looks like your cover is just pulled too far in the front. Nevertheless, I demand a repressing of the entire stock to avoid future posts like this.

Moving on...
The Kuroneko artwork is pretty clever. I haven't unwrapped it yet but when you hold it a certain way to the light the ghost on the cover actually disappears (mostly, there's still a subtle outline) while everything else remains intact, and then it of course reappears when you change the direction of the light again. I'll see if I can recreate it when taking pictures but it might be hard.

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on Vol.
I just posted some pictures on our Tumblr of the cover art. I thought Sam Smith was hinting at the fact that the Kuroneko cover art might be some kind of gimmicky material that would make the woman disappear. It appears to just be metallic inks, but the effect is great. I love this cover.cdnchris wrote:The Kuroneko artwork is pretty clever. Yep, metallic ink, and it makes a rather cool little effect.

That is indeed cool. Thanks for going to the trouble of taking a shot of that, Chris.

Sorry it didn't turn out better but I had trouble getting the lighting right.

It seems like they changed it and added credits to the front cover (Lugosi's and Laughton's). On the Criterion website the cover for Island only has Kenton's name.

Godzilla looks like it will come on the Xbox, PS3, and the Wii.

Everyone knows the Wii can't support those kinds of high-end graphics

You can see them because you're logged in. Looks like someone else posted them on Facebook though:Calvin wrote:![]()

Not sure if that'll work but they show up fine when I preview this post

I wasn't aware Belle de Jour was part of that Max Ophuls Criterion series...

I didn't think those covers were legit. But someone posted them on the Facebook page, and now they are removed?

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on Vol.
The Belle du jour one is consistent with the tease they gave us earlier, so I'd assume they're all legit.
