But so were the previous DVD covers that only showed two ronin. What can you do?

I have no idea what it is but if I had to guess, I would say either Three Outlaw Samurai (which Criterion recently screened at Fantastic Fest in Austin) or 13 Assassins. (The success of the Miike film at the specialty box office would be a good incentive to convince whoever holds the rights to the original to finally put it out on dvd/blu)

No, you are thinking of Miike's remake, we are talking about the original film by Eiichi Kudo. (as an aside, AnimEigo is also planning on releasing Eiichi Kudo's The Great Killing (aka The Great Duel) and Eleven Samurai next year)

I'm thinking it might be Throne of Blood. But with Stray Dog and Drunken Angel most likely getting upgraded this month, it might be Kurosawa overkill.

The first thing that came to mind for me is the crazy ending scene of Sword of Doom

If that's a horse then it's not Kwaidan. The Taira clan fell in a sea battle. At first I thought it was Three Outlaw Samurai because the fight at the end has foot soldiers and officers on horse. Then I noticed the pants in the picture. That has to be Mifune from Throne of Blood.

Silent was the very first thing I though of. Murnau's Tartuffe?

Spirit of The Beehive on blu? IIRC, there is a big shadowplay scene in a nice living room.

According to one of the replies on the Facebook page, it's a scene from David Lean:

"It's from David Lean's "Blithe Spirit"--Hooray! If you have Netflix, the movie is available on streaming. Check it out from about the 16:30 mark, the initial seance scene. I'm excited!"

Fits in with the rumors of a new Lean set coming...

Yup, DEFINITELY Blithe Spirit. For a second my heart skipped a beat as I thought it was a frame from the Colonel Blimp (Candy's shadow on the wall prior to the famous Trophy Head scene). But that one shall come sooner rather than later. I'm equally thrilled by this...more Lean on the way!

Apparently Coward was less than thrilled with Lean's efforts.

Noel Coward took the project to his friend David Lean, with whom he had co-directed the Oscar-winning In Which We Serve. However, Coward was not at all happy with Lean's film of Blithe Spirit. He later asked Lean, "How the hell did you fuck up the best thing I ever did?"
