All due respect to Coward, but he's full of it. Frankly I think Lean improved on it, and the ending was a sublime change over the original which was rather facile and kind of misogynistic.

It's been a very long time since I last saw it. The quote was offered up as a curiosity. Coward was known to play the south end of a northbound horse rather convincingly.

Would it be fair to say Blithe Spirit is best enjoyed with a dry martini? Very dry, in fact.

Seems a fair assessment.

From the looks of it, Brazil should be re-released soon. Of course, people on Facebook seem to also be speculating that Citizen Kane, Grand Illusion, and a Criterion social networking site are what the image implies.

Though I think the fact that they chose Brazil for their favourite in the collection is a clue that it will be receiving an upgrading soon, I believe what this is showing is a new feature on their website that will be up in the near future.

They posted that picture with the comment, "Coming soon". So an upcoming Brazil Blu seems clear enough.

I'm betting more on a social aspect being added to the site.

They're trying to horn in on our carefully crafted cachet. Chris, you know what you must do: eliminate Criterion

I thought for a long time that Mulvaney was just an emotionless machine...but here I totally understand his pain.

I think they secretly wish they had Kane back so people could get the blu of it without being saddled with that piece of shit, insulting documentary

Jon Mulvaney is my favourite fictional character. Or is he more of a mythical creature?

It's not for Brazil. Go to Criterion's site and look at the top around your account. There should be a "My Criterion" now and it's like a Mubi type profile where you share with friends your collection, fav film released by them, and what 1 title you would most like for them to release.

pretty much. Wonder if they will keep track of the "Film most wanted in the collection" from everyone?

I'm actually surprised they never did that before. The Facebook app I made gets way more use than I ever figured it would, so I'm sure their system will get a crazy amount of use on their site.

If they do, the strategic thing to do would probably be to vote for something you know they're already sitting on, thus urging them to finally pull the trigger, then move on to another such title. But they're probably just going to be swamped with requests for Citizen Kane, 2001 and Fight Club.

Criterions are a status symbol to some, so an easy way to show off your collection to the world makes sense from a narcissistic standpoint

I just don't see how people can rub it in the face of others how much money they can spend on movies when you can't really do a search for people's "My Criterion" pages. You would have to give them the URL of your page, so you would have to be on an e-mail, forum, Facebook, etc with that person for you all to exchange links. In which case, what is the point, when you can just talk about your Collections there?

Because Social Networks are about as much flaunting and as little actual interaction as possible?

Am I the only one who considers his sizable collection of Criterion discs kind of a bad thing?

Here's a "first world problem". My Skyrim addiction, has left my November B&N haul, collecting dust.
