Great prices, the only item more expensive than Amazon is Punishment Park.

Le Silence de la mer, The Insect Woman and Repo Man for me. Nice to be ordering the latter the same day Waldo's Hawaiian Holiday, it's comic book sequel, shows up in my mail box :)

Already tried that. Had issues with this site before using FF, the catalogue for instance. Just tried with IE and I can see it, but why would I want to use IE?

Picked up the whole Pialat series, minus A Nos Amours, which apparently sold out already (or so the Paypal page said when I went to check out). I'll admit I'm pretty new to Pialat; the only film of his I've ever seen is A Nos Amours, which I loved immensely. I've been meaning to see more of his work. With a crazy deal like this, I figure I can afford to splurge all at once. Can't wait to get these in my mitts!

Picked up the Repo Man steelbook as well. By the by, you guys at MOC make the loveliest Steelbooks out there. I never really cared for them in the past, but your designs make the format a preferable choice. Simply gorgeous.

Looks like waiting for the prices for the Sunrise and City Girl Duals to fall and not pre-ordering La silence de la mer from elsewhere has paid off!

It seems fairly common for them to offer only the steelbook versions initially. (For instance, Two-Lane Blacktop last month.) I'm sure the non-steelbook will be available in the next offer.

I ordered the M dual from the latest offers. Should I be at all concerned that the item number on the checkout page is listed as "CityGirlDual"?

I'm really tempted to place my pre-order for the Repo Man steelbook, but I'm having trouble justifying paying what amounts to about an extra $6 USD over the regular edition. Are the steelbooks really worth the extra money? I know they're limited and would probably be worth it for re-sale value, but I'm not interested in that. I'm curious about how (besides the obvious) the packaging differs. Could anyone share a picture of the interior of a steelbook?

Since the Mizoguchis are now labeled as "SOLD OUT", I just thought it might be worth mentioning that amazon.uk appears to still have some copies of the Late Mizoguchi box of all 8 movies for just under 36 pounds.

It's just the original individual Mizoguchis that are sold out. As far as I'm aware, the box is still available.

LATE MIZOGUCHI box is not OOP, and will continue to be in print. Content is identical to the single editions.

Oh dear, L'enfance nue and Police are now listed as out of print. Does this mean dual format editions of these are forthcoming or should I go ahead and pick these up on Amazon?

You're reading the sales page wrong. The OOPs are referring to the Mizoguchis.

The recent announcement of the Artificial Eye Mizoguchi Collection Blu-Ray makes me hope that the MoC titles might receive the same treatment...

Just noticed the 'Limited edition' tag on the regular version of Two-Lane Blacktop. Any ideas if this is a limited edition in the 'essentially just a regular release that'll be around for ages' sense or the 'you'd better buy one fairly soon' sense? Having worked in retail the phrase has come to be fairly meaningless to me unfortunately.

peerpee wrote:To clarify, the 'limited edition' thing is our idea, not a Universal pre-requisite to make way for their edition after a year or anything like that. We wanted to keep sales moving (they typically start off strong and then really fall off the edge of a cliff, because of the small installed userbase, but things are getting better). The print run will be a healthy size, but we just don't know how popular these releases will be -- it's all a gamble, but one we really wanted to take...Something like 95% of the UK population have a DVD player. Last time I heard less than 5% of the population owned a Blu-ray player -- so it's not hard to see that it's difficult to make a go of Blu-ray only releases. When our titles go OOP, folk who've had their eye on the release for 3, 4, sometimes 5 years often kick themselves because they haven't picked a title up. Eventually a large number of our releases will go OOP. We're just saying - when they're gone, they're gone - get 'em while you can.

I've just seen that the regular edition of Two Lane Blacktop is £4 less expensive than the Steelbook edition. :o
It's a first time that a Steelbook with no other added value than the packaging was sold clearly higher than the regular edition, and I find that a bit sad. I like the MoC's Steelbooks, which feels nicely done and have a real collectible look, but if they are that much more expensive than the regular editions, I might stop buying them.

I already find "sad" that the latest BD-only editions are at the same price (or more expensive) than some dual-format, but this might be a bit too much IMHO.
