Re: MoC: Cheapest Prices / Best Places to Buy / Pre-Orders
I don't really see the problem. Just buy the regular packaged edition then if it makes no difference to you. I think it's quite smart that the MoC team are trying to make a little extra by printing a small limited print in alternative packaging but with nothing real extra. It's stuff like this that probably helps fund less lucrative releases like Coeur fidele. Like you said, there's nothing extra there, it's just alternative packaging so you're not missing out on anything.
Also, why shouldn't some of the latest Blu-rays be more expensive than older duals? Prices always start higher, then fall over time in a market like this one.

Yeah, the 10.99 duals probably shouldn't be looked at as like the price you should expect to pay kind of thing- that's a really good deal and I feel like it should be looked on as an exception and not the rule.

Re: MoC: Cheapest Prices / Best Places to Buy / Pre-Orders
Theres lots of Steelbooks which have nothing extra except for the packaging, that are priced higher than it's standard counterpart. It's perfectly normal all companies do it.tenia wrote:I've just seen that the regular edition of Two Lane Blacktop is £4 less expensive than the Steelbook edition.
It's a first time that a Steelbook with no other added value than the packaging was sold clearly higher than the regular edition, and I find that a bit sad. I like the MoC's Steelbooks, which feels nicely done and have a real collectible look, but if they are that much more expensive than the regular editions, I might stop buying them.
Seriously? if you look hard enough you can find the latest blu-ray only editions for £11.99 and £12.45 which is a complete steal, Touch of Evil is priced abit higher because it's on two 50gb blu ray discs.(nick will correct me if im wrong about that).tenia wrote:I already find "sad" that the latest BD-only editions are at the same price (or more expensive) than some dual-format, but this might be a bit too much IMHO.
MoC prices are perfect and more than worth it, even if they all priced at £15+, I wouldn't have a problem paying it.

Re: MoC: Cheapest Prices / Best Places to Buy / Pre-Orders
I'm just surprised because it wasn't the case with Silent Running or Touch of Evil, that's all. I thought it was pretty nice from MoC to put both edition at the same price so far, as for Touch of Evil and Silent Running.
Anyway.
Sorry folks.
My bad : I thought that previous dual started at £11.99 (thus making Two Lane and Silent Running at £12.93 (and not £11.99 or £12.45) more expensive than a Dual). I perfectly know that the £10.99 is a special sale, I just a memory of pricing point which was wrong, thus my mistaken post.If you look hard enough you can find the latest blu-ray only editions for £11.99 and £12.45 which is a complete steal, Touch of Evil is priced abit higher because it's on two 50gb blu ray discs.(nick will correct me if im wrong about that).

The first reprinted duals were even £14.99 I believe.

Zavvi and The Hut have the two Antonioni dual-formats at £10.95 each. Cheaper than I've seen them anywhere before..

They were the same price on Moviemail a few months ago.

Re: BD 14 Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?
Is there some reason Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? seems available only through exorbitantly priced offers from third party sellers? The catalogue shows it as in print, correct?

I guess the retailers don't have the new dual format edition yet. You can order it directly through Eureka at the moment.isakborg wrote:Is there some reason Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? seems available only through exorbitantly priced offers from third party sellers? Re: BD 14 Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?
I suppose it should be noted that the original blu-ray only release is still available directly from Eureka for just £14.93. I'm a bit surprised that the price was never slashed to around £10, as seemed to be the case with most of the other titles getting dual format releases.

It was down to seven quid a few months back; at least, it was when I bought it.

The Mabuse boxset is currently a steal at £26.79 on Amazon UK and Play.
What are the chances that the Mabuse films might receive a blu-ray update?

Obviously peerpee is the proper person to address this, but some past tidbits have suggested that a lot of the FWMS transfers aren't HD-ready, so there's likely to be no decent BluRay edition until a whole new restoration is undertaken. Plus, the fact that this set was released when MoC were already into their BluRay phase and were arguably at their most aggressive at pushing the new format suggests that Blu was not an option for them.

I'd say get it, that price is too good. It's a great set and the commentary on all the films are fantastic. Even if it does get a Blu upgrade it won't be for sometime, I'm guessing.neilist wrote:The Mabuse boxset is currently a steal at £26.79 on Amazon UK and Play.

Re: MoC: Cheapest Prices / Best Places to Buy / Pre-Orders
The World dual package is up for pre-order at Zaavi £12.45 and Moviemail £14.35, nothing at Amazon who are quoting something like £28 for the original release.

That isn't Amazon's doing, it's the resale price at the moment.

Some nice prices, but lacking some sort of discount deal for anyone ordering both forthcoming Pasolini titles together, which was the one thing I'd quite hoped might happen.Askew wrote:New MoC sales page http://www.eurekavideo.co.uk/offers/offers.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: MoC: Cheapest Prices / Best Places to Buy / Pre-Orders
Punishment Park is still £15 and the increased some Duals to £14, while Amazon sells all those titles for £13 or less. They should give you a discount if you order in bulk, it encourages people to buy more.

Don't forget FREE SHIPPING. I'm not sure that amazon.co.uk offers that with international orders...

Re: MoC: Cheapest Prices / Best Places to Buy / Pre-Orders
They are brilliant, but I live in the UK so I can get most of the titles cheaper from HMV (with free shipping), but I prefer Eureka when the price is the same.

Try e-mailing and asking them to price match? Amazing what often happens when people try to haggle a little!

I can't believe these guys don't just give their product away for free. This is 2012!
