Yep. We are not in the '50s any longer. I kind of think the award should go away until musicals come back in vogue.

Yes. Apparently it's the category minimum in the event that more songs don't get enough votes to qualify.

It's about time the Academy realized the brilliance of holding the short subject awards until the end. Millions of Oscar pools hang in the balance and THEY DAMN WELL KNOW IT.
