I like Meryl. I haven't seen this biopic, but her accents in the movie clip sounds weird to me. Meryl should have won for Bridges of Madison Country, one of the the best film from 90s.

Truly shocked they didn't give it to Davis, even though she had one of the weakest roles and performances in the film-- guess the Oscars are in "Prestige" rather than "Liberal Guilt" mode that round

I would have voted for Davis, myself. The rest of that category was unusually weak.

Surely she have expected it. Streep won Golden Globe, BAFTA, and most critics' groups too. They've been friends since doing Doubt together and Streep has been actively campaigning for Davis to win.
