Very poor American box office, nobody speaks about it in the forum (or anywhere), it did lose all the Césars, not Oscar nomination... why? Because it's made by a woman and the film industry is still under the tiranía del machismo. Specially the critics.

Let's imagine that Truffaut would be still alive and He would have made a film last year. It could be perfectly this one.

It's so beautiful, so tough, so moving, so good that I am still on shock.

Donzellis is not Tarantino's girlfriend, so, au revoir main awards.
Donzelli is brilliant as actress and filmmaker, so, Does the envy means silence if you are a woman? omertà? ¿Hipocresía?

Absolutely agree with you, rohmerin, that Donzelli is still not known enough in the US. But don't be too downcast -- Declaration of War was, after all, seen by nearly 3/4 million people in France! I didn't love everything about the film, but it seemed overall like a completely heartfelt shoot-for-the-moon piece of filmmaking that I can't help but admire it. And her other films are all interesting too.

I thought her first film was better, but this one was still a very touching well done illustration of how damage to one part of the family can simultaneously strengthen and destroy the rest of the family.
