On the other hand, if you get a show with eight great seasons and fifteen crappy ones, you can just elect not to watch the crappy ones. Particularly if it's a comedy with no particular plot strings that demand resolution.

I think there is not a single thing that is good about this cover (and so, so many things that are bad).

Why is a well-dressed Thing from the Addams Family pushing Li'l Winters against the crib? Is this one of those babes behind bars films I've heard so much about?

It seems like he doesn't want li'l Winters to eat his brains.

Skater Lincoln is awesome. I think people really are beginning to misunderstand the thread or else we've run out of Repulsions.

I agree. Dumb idea for a film, but great cover for a dumb idea for a film!

I like how nonchalant Lincoln is even though he is clearly the biggest badass of all time according to that cover/his "Come at me, Bro" posture

Re: Worst DVD Covers...ever! (Part 3-D)
I was amused by the raised eyebrow that for some reason reminded me of the Roger Moore-era Bond films!
The posture that makes it look as if Lincoln is doing one of those happy little sideways skips to one side in a musical number
Is the blood splatter in front or behind Lincoln? If behind, what exactly is it splattering on?
What exactly is the point of the city vista behind him and why does it peter out into nothingness at the bottom?
The tacky lens flare on the weapon
Why have the title designers gone all out on "Abraham Lincoln" but chosen a boring font for "Zombies"?
Why the rolling clouds at the top of the picture? Do the zombies appear out of them at the beginning in a similar manner to the alien spaceships in Independence Day?
- that I can't second zedz on this.
Can you have a dumb execution of a great idea for a cover for a dumb idea for a film?
There are so many problems with the execution of that cover:zedz wrote:I agree. Dumb idea for a film, but great cover for a dumb idea for a film!

And it looks like the makers of this poster were strongly inspired by the design of the Three Colors set:

Yeah, but I'd argue that the Flight poster is still good graphic design and it does exactly what a teaser poster has to do in our overcrowded and cluttered visual space: it draws the eye with an image that whets one's appetite for the film. Likely the film can never live up to this, but that's kind of beside the point.

I think the main fault of the teaser is that there's too much text, and it's too big. If you cut out the writing/directing credits, the caption under "From Robert Zemeckis," and make "Denzel Washington" a smaller font or eliminate it all together, I would say it's a great teaser.

Re: Worst DVD Covers...ever! (Part 3-D)
But the relative size of all that text is boilerplate in everyone's contract and largely outside of the designer's control. Hence the trouble with the recent Criterion Harold and Maude. It's not a brilliant poster, but I guess I don't see the point of nitpicking it on this thread unless you are a graphic designer yourself and minimalism is your thing?

Re: Worst DVD Covers...ever! (Part 3-D)

This looks schlocky.
And the edition I saw had the same layout but with extra and clunkier writing.
I'll look for it.
The people half worked into the title font is rather weird and off-putting.

Quick question, which cover art is better?

The answer is obviously the latter, because it has a giant head, and it comes with a car.

Tilt that 90 degrees clockwise and you have a visual description of Robert Zemeckis's career since The Polar Express.

Yeah, but that's firmly in the "so bad it's good" category.

It's gotta be the metaphorical heart, which we all know is never fickle.
