Dig the De-evolution of a movie poster as it goes from generic but at the very least respectable as a cheesy lifetime/Nickelodeon movie.

Image

To a horrible poster, that makes little sense to the plot.

Image

To a hysterical culmination of more wires! sparkles! thinner girl! less human looking! we need a microphone! bling out the tiara!

What really bothers me is the color. Did the makers of this cover even see the movie, or did they think that "black-and-white doesn't sell"?

But when you see the movie, you see everything turn to color, so I don't see how a color cover is a problem. And black-and-white films often have color posters/ads/covers.

It's like he has the thousand yard stare after he saw that cover.

Rossellini would be rolling in his grave if he knew Antonioni was being used to represent him visually.

Especially when, as Matt pointed out, it made no sense whatsoever in this context.

Thankfully, WB announced that their shitty direct to dvd division who is responsible for this as well as many other atrocities, is shutting down.

To give them credit, they are taking the original theatrical poster of the original movie as the template.

Image

As for the story, it is written by Jean Shepherd who wrote the original. It's going to have the difficult task of following the original, and the previous 'sequel' film "My Summer Story" was a huge flop and completely forgotten.

much like this atrocity...why is the main image on the back in color yet there are b&w screen caps below it?

Haven't there been color publicity stills/posters/promotional materials for black-and-white films since before any of us were alive? How is that an "atrocity"? There are both ugly and attractive ways of doing that, of course.
Once again, this thread strays from the truly atrocious.

I think the rule of thumb is this: Color illustrations for black and white films = good. Color(ized) photographs for black and white films = bad.
