Can I just say that the Steelbook looks incredible. I've not had the chance to get stuck into the contents but it is one of the nicest looking things on my shelf.

Love the pristine, grainy transfer on this one. Between this and Ruggles, MoC could release nothing but Blu-rays of '30s films from here on out and I wouldn't complain. Cleopatra might not have held my attention as much on a midsize TV, but projected onto a 100" screen it looks simply divine--I can totally see now why they decided to release this. It's no Scarlet Empress but it's at least halfway there.

Fritz Lang chimes in with his two cents... although he was likely talking about the runaway Mankiewicz production.

From the '60s tete-a-tete he did with JLG, which one can see here: YouTube

Will be getting the MoC BD soon. One of J Rosenbaum's 1000 Essential Films; the only other DeMilles on the list are DYNAMITE and SAMSON AND DELILAH.

His Reader capsule: "This 1934 feature is as silly and as sexy as much of Cecil B. De Mille, probably not as good as some of his other early talkies but considerably more fun than the four-hour Joseph L. Mankiewicz blockbuster of the 60s. Claudette Colbert plays that naughty lady of the Nile amid posh settings and Oscar-winning cinematography (by Victor Milner). As Dave Kehr suggested in an earlier Reader capsule, the actors, alas, are a bunch of stiffs (Warren William, Henry Wilcoxon, C. Aubrey Smith) “spouting lofty sentiments in phony British accents,” but you can't have everything. 100 min."

Universal is releasing this film in April.

There was some discussion of it in the Biopic thread, but I found this to be a superb film, and it's still the only DeMille I've gotten around to seeing. I especially remember the ending of the film and final shot to be divine.

I know that this may sound like an odd thing to ask, but does anyone have the barcode information for this? I'd like to add it to my DVD profiling software, but I have the steelbook and it doesn't have a barcode. When I attempt to look it up with the search feature, it can't be found. I could enter the code in manually, but I just don't know it.

You're in luck, the back cover is posted on blu-ray.com. To save you the trouble, the bar code is 5060000700817
