Re: Worst DVD Covers...ever! (Part 3-D)
Are they the same film? The blurb on both is from the same "critic" I think, even if they do differ a bit.

I like to think this is a Canuck remake of Act of Violence with Page and the cat in the Van Heflin and Ryan roles, respectively.

Those covers are dramatically different for it being the same film, and actually intrigue me to see whether it's all miracles and friendship or a suspenseful drama.

Generic suburban prefab dwelling or crumbling old farmhouse? It depends on the dead cat's mood!

Miracles and friendship. The Ghost Cat cover was a repackaging to sell it as a horror movie, but it isn't. I know because I was burned on this one.Murdoch wrote:Those covers are dramatically different for it being the same film, and actually intrigue me to see whether it's all miracles and friendship or a suspenseful drama.

Yeah, looking at IMDB, the only movie she has done with "cat" in the title is Mrs Ashboro's Cat, like Knives said.

That's funny: I just watched the trailer for that, and the ghost has all grey hair. For the cover it looks like they made him over as a young Jerry Lewis from back he was using Brylcreem.

Yeah, that review's either fake, fake, fake, fake, fake or incredibly incompetently written.cdnchris wrote:Apparently she "shines" either way

"I Downloaded Jerry Lewis" sounds like a much scarier movie.Gregory wrote:That's funny: I just watched the trailer for that, and the ghost has all grey hair. For the cover it looks like they made him over as a young Jerry Lewis from back he was using Brylcreem.

(...from back when he was using... Why can't I type?)
By the way, Alson, the name attached to those blurbs, is one of those "quote whores" called out on efilmcritic.com. He praises lots of direct-to-video "soon to be classics" and the like:
"In the tradition of High Noon and Dances with Wolves comes another soon to be classic." (The Showdown)
"High Noon meets Unforgiven in this soon to be classic tale of guns, revenge and redemption." (Redemption)
"Goodfellas meets Chinatown in this modern gangster masterpiece." (The Perfect Sleep)
"In the vein of Broken Trail with the shoot em up action of 3:10 To Yuma." (Come Hell or High Water)
"High Plains Drifter meets Young Guns in this shoot em up tale of revenge." (Bounty)
"The Grudge meets Haunting In Connecticut in this terrifying supernatural shocker!" (Ghost Month)

Re: Worst DVD Covers...ever! (Part 3-D)
Those last two look like pretty standard issue covers to me, with effective color schemes.
I'm even intrigued how The Miz serves and protects after his legs start spewing lava.
The 3 names and 2 completely at odds covers for the 1 teen Ellen Page cat film is amusing.

I"m wondering how the Miz is not burning his left hand by the way he is carrying that gun.

30 years ago, the only way someone like The Miz would have been in an action movie is if he was cast as the villain's bratty fratboy son or something.
