I hate to say it, but I'd trade the blu of World on a Wire for a blu of any of the films in this Eclipse set. It's just sad that we won't see these in HD unless another company releases them.

The Big City release also includes Ray's The Coward (1965).

The Coward is normally paired with The Holy Man (I believe they were originally shown as a double bill) so this is a bit of an odd decision on Criterion's part. I suppose this means that The Holy Man itself will be an extra down the line.

Really? My jaw dropped at the awesomeness of the TBONTB cover, and it's maybe one of the best Criterion covers of all time - in my opinion.

I can check one off the Dear God Please Let Criterion Release This!!! list. Most exciting news in months. This film scared the living shit out of me as a kid. So perfectly Cronenberg and the right mix of creepy and campy.

I'm pretty sure New Line let the rights lapse to Crash in addition to a few other Hanway titles like Malle's Damage.

I think when they have a title like Crash or Damage (or Tootsie) where they did the Laserdisc and have exclusive extras, there's a better than average chance to see it get released, even if it takes a long time like The Game.

Perhaps the most that we can say is that Criterion has never released a film that is on the WB archives. Just because it's never happened does not mean that it won't ever happen. It all depends on how amenable Warner Brothers would be about licensing out a film that they've already squeezed most of the money out of in North America (and oh, how I wish that they could get their hands on a few of those titles...). That being said, it's a very poor omen for any future release from Criterion.

Last night, I saw Before Midnight at a special preview screening (I highly recommend checking out the film; it truly is great). Anyway, Richard Linklater was in attendance for a Q&A, and shortly after it ended, I actually got to meet and speak with him briefly. I asked him about SubUrbia and if there were any plans for a release at the moment. He told me how the film was owned by Warner Bros. and that a few years ago they changed around their company policy and so the film has been remaining in a sort of limbo (I assume he's referring to the recent influx of Archive titles over pressed discs, and so on). Regardless, he said that Criterion had wanted to release the film, but at the moment, there was nothing new to report, although he did say that he feels the film will make it to DVD one day.

It's been years since I'm waiting for Crash (Cronenberg) on blu-ray.... [-o<
of course Criterion would be great... but any blu-ray release would be nice..

each time I think I find Crash in some country, released on blu-ray, it turns out to be Crash (2004, Paul Haggis) movie. ](*,)
I think that it tends my favorite Cronenberg movie with The Fly and Videodrome.

but I remember there has been an announcement for Before Sunrise/Sunset on blu-ray.com for an upcoming blu-ray release in the US.... was Criterion mentionned on it...?
