Most of the reviews I read were extremely positive. Hollywood Reporter, Indiewire etc.

Same as rs98762001, the majority of reviews I've read have been raves as well. And well deserved too!tenia wrote:So they ARE some people who liked it. It's the first positive review I'm reading.

If I'm not mistaken, Ousmane Sembene's Borom Sarret and Lino Brocka's Manilla in the Claws of Neon are the only WCF titles that debuted at Cannes this year, correct?

And now I actually have seen it. Fans will be delighted, as this may well be his wackiest film yet (and I understand exactly how crazy that sounds). For me, it simply confirmed that Jodorowsky is an extremely interesting, but nevertheless terrible, filmmaker.zedz wrote:Seen it.yoshimori wrote:Jodorowsky:
A band of drunken quadriplegics taunts the town mayor, transvestites hum The Internationale, ice cream flavors include ‘earth’, ‘water’, and ‘fire’, papa dresses as Stalin, big-breasted mama sings her dialogue operatically, and little ‘Alejandrito’, the reincarnation of a maternal grandfather who accidentally self-emolated trying to light an oil lamp, is proclaimed ‘holy’.
In addition to yoshimori's checklist, there's a fancy dress competition for dogs which is obviously rigged (that kangaroo costume was awesome!), a deluge of anchovies, a guy who amiably cajoles our hero to bury him alive, nudie blackface sexgames with Mum, and lots and lots and lots about the director's anxiety over his sexuality and the size / shape of his dick.
