fdm, are you saying that if an item that you ordered brand new arrived to you in 100% pristine condition, but somehow came without the shrinkwrap, you would send it back on principle?

Or because he's not yet aware of Goo Gone or the number one alternate use for lighter fluid?

Weird, the worst that's happened to me has been damaged booklets.

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on Vol.
I recently received a Heaven's Gate blu ray with no disc 1. Biggest error I've encountered.
A few cases from B&N were damaged a little during shipping because they pack too loosely, but I kept them.
On Amazon, when you see the seller is Amazon Warehouse Deals, I think these are repackaged items. The blu rays from them never come with the blue stickers. Sometimes this happens even when the seller is Amazon Inc., which sort of ticks me off. But the condition is usually like new so I don't bother getting a replacement.

It would never happen in the first place.swo17 wrote:fdm, are you saying that if an item that you ordered brand new arrived to you in 100% pristine condition, but somehow came without the shrinkwrap, you would send it back on principle?

If it needs Goo Gone it's used.warren oates wrote:Or because he's not yet aware of Goo Gone or the number one alternate use for lighter fluid?

I have to admit I agree with fdm and would return a non-shrinkwrapped "new" item as well. Also, this is from Amazon's own guidelines for listing products:
They can at least follow their own rules.Amazon wrote:◦CDs and DVDs should always be shrink-wrapped to protect them during shipping and differentiate them from used copies.

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on Vol.
I just got a new shrink-wrapped Blu-ray of the latest season of Breaking Bad which nevertheless had an annoying little white sticker on the back of the keepcase under the outer layer of removable plastic. It looked like a factory "inspected by" number or something. But I've seen any number of barcode and other stickers like this under shrinkwrap on brand-new CDs, DVDs, etc. And then there are books. Don't get me started on safely removing hideous stickers from new books, which are almost never shrink-wrapped. Still, why would any of you want to go through the hassle of sending back an otherwise perfectly good item when removing the sticker is quicker and easier? You're not taking a stand on principle that's going to change anything, make it any less likely that you'll get one of those rare mistakes in the future, since Criterion's quality control is normally quite good and Glamazon's* customer service has been pretty great for years now.

Criterion is now listing the cover artist and/or designer under the "Disc Features" section on each released film's page. Coming soon titles do not have this info.

That's a useful addition. I wish they'd also add to the website the "About the transfer" information from the booklets.

To the cover art, or to their relationship?

Any relationship that results in Isabella Rossellini is fine by me.

I like that cover, it reminds me of a vintage film trailer type-style.

Holy cow! I remember guessing La Cage Aux Folles in the New Years drawing. After someone else suggested Le Samurai, I figured that I had to have been wrong.

That box will be amazing content-wise but that cover, damn... Those yellow letters are so wrong...
