And honestly, for a pretty well-known and well-liked genre film, is "worth seeing!" from some Z-list celebrity (I'm probably being generous there) really the best recommendation they could find?

It's been quite a while since I've come across anything quite this awful.

There's probably a more appropriate thread for this, but Asylum does feature (intentionally) shlocky covers.

Escaped From the Asylum!
Bottom-of-the-barrel creature features. Topless-teen comedies. “Mockbuster” rip-offs. In Burbank, California, one low-budget studio cranks out whatever Netflix wants.

I wasn't aware Netflix commissions B-knockoff films and horror shlock in order to have more new product and filled-in lists.

But the schlockier the cover, the better it grabs the attention of the potential viewer. Asylum is getting that part right. "Bad" as they may be, they are intentional and get their job done.

But when you have photoshopped heads and body parts, bad shading, and a terrible sense of framing, it becomes material for this thread...

Netflix may not actively solicit the production of schlocky horror/sci-fi (although with that wacky CEO who could tell anymore) but just try looking up anything in the genre and you'll find plenty of the absolute skankiest direct-to-video (or now I guess) direct-to-streaming grindhouse sludge even in the "classic" sub-catagory. A lot of the art and text read like a Lampoon parody from the '80s but this stuff is apparently for real.

Yeah, I hate this trendy phony irony. Deliberate campiness. We love to embrace stupidity now, no innocence.

Although it's not the season yet, Ho(bo) Ho(bo) Ho(bo)!

That is either one giant dog, or a tiny locomotive.
If you zoom in, the bonus CD's coverart is frightening

Ha, now that they've updated the awful temp art with a cover that's actually good (and with a color scheme of a Hot Hot Heat album), the last couple posts make no sense

That bad accent was enjoyable to my American ears. Fisher's not so much. It sounded like she was choking on a sandwich. Though otherwise the film is good stupid with even Franco being enjoyable.

No pain, no gain!

The best part of that image is that the reflection in their glasses is of a living room or something.

The worst part is that random woman. The main female character of the movie is played by Rebel Wilson... So who the fuck is that? Maybe one of Ken Jaeong's escorts, but they're cameos at best.

Isn't that Bar Paly on the cover? She was the most prominent female character as far as I recall...and subject to just as many tasteless jokes as Rebel Wilson's character.

Far worse than the cover is that Michael Bay was too swamped with Transformers 4 to contribute any new supplemental features to this. I really liked the movie and have no shame in saying as much, but it's disappointing he didn't do any of that during post-production.
