DVDPacific shipped Le samourai early last week, but they've yet to ship the Samurai Rebellion box.

Maybe the fact that Image owns Planet and DigitalEyes is a hinderance. I looked at various sites and most of them with the exception of Amazon has the October releases either on order or out of stock.

DeepDiscountDVD still hasn't shipped my "Wages of Fear". They said that it's out of stock and they expect it today (I pre-ordered it 2 moths ago). We'll see....

I did mention a while ago that CriterionDVD told me delays are definitely due to the Image transition.

DVD Pacific shipped my October titles (the Samurai box set plus Le Samourai) last week, so they are out, however incompetently or incoherently distributed.

This is definitely a new distributor problem. I received my Kids in the Hall Season 3 one week early and my Special Edition 1953 War of the Worlds shipped today. Man this sucks.

I just received all of the October titles from DVDEmpire. I was hoping to get them before they were available in the stores, but I guess you can't get your cake and eat it too.

One side note, my Samurai box came a little banged up and Le Samourai's case has tears in the plastic. Has anyone else experienced problems with this?

Did they say how long they're delayed...? Until what day? AHHHhhhh I want my DVDs. This has never been a problem with DVDplanet before. At latest, they ship on Monday--at LATEST. If this is a distribution problem, you'd think that because Image owns DVDplanet, that DVDplanet would get the DVDs sooner that these other sites from which people are claiming they're getting their October discs already.

I thought about calling them, but then figured I'd just be patient.

I called around 10:00 AM. They said that they were going to be shipped either by noon or early tomorrow morning. It sucks anyway.

Well, after just check my order history, it looks like it'll be tomorrow morning... Meaning I won't get them until Friday or Saturday. At least I can watch them this weekend--I probably woudn't have watched them until this weekend anyway. It's just the principal of the thing; I want my DVDs on the same day as everyone else, and I get really crabby when I don't get my way...

I have been rather disappointed with DVD Planet.com for some time now. I bundle a number of items for pre-order, and request USPS Priority Mail for delivery. Astonishingly, DVD Planet cannot meet this simple request. If the pre-ordered items get released on different dates, only the first shipment would go by priority mail, the rest by First Class Mail. The latter sometimes take weeks to arrive, and neither DVD Planet nor the post office would entertain any enquieries until 3 weeks have elapsed. After several such episodes, I spoke to a supervisor at DVD Planet, who said such was their system, and nothing could be done about it. I cancelled all outstanding orders and switched to Amazon.com, who reflects 30% discount on all Criterion new releases, and gives you the choice of shipping method. I have not seen many organizations less interested in satisfying customers than DVD Planet.

I do the same thing, but I always receive my order via priority mail. I've never had later shipments go out via first class.

One time DVDplanet accidentally rubber banded another guy's order to my order. The guy lived about 30 miles from me. Not realizing what had happened, and thinking they just shipped my order in two smaller boxes, I opened both order. I quickly realized my mistake... The guy had ordered Port of Shadows and whatever Ozu film came out that same day. I ended up looking his number up and calling him to explain what happened, then I shipped the DVDs over to him so he wouldn't have to wait even longer (if I had sent them back to DVDplanet, it would have been three days back, and another three days out the guy). He seemed pleased. But this is just another example of the inattentiveness of DVDplanet.

...By the way, my October discs just shipped today. What a blow job (in the negative sense--if there is such a thing).

I got a shipping e-mail from dvdplanet today for all three (giftset).
I have gotten random movies put in with my oredr from them before but nothing worth enough to bring it to their attention. I think that has happened three times now.

Thank you, bjeggert82, for the information. I spent half an hour discussing with the supervisor at DVD Planet why they could not ship all shipments related to a single order by Priority Mail. He asured me it could not be done in their system. Well, either due to their inflexibility, or due to their ignorance, they lost a customer.

Well, in the midst of all the annoyance regarding the October titles (which I've only seen at one place in New york City: the Virgin Megastore where I picked up "Le Samourai"), I though I should mention that I just saw copies of "Ugetsu" and "Pickpocket" on the shelves over at Mondo Kim's. This despite the fact they still didn't have any of the October titles in stock yet. So hopefully we won't be having a repeat of this month's unpleasantness anytime soon.

By the way, the "Ugetsu" packaging looked really nice: a slipcase with two separate digipacks for the discs (one with the movie and most of the supplements, the other one with the Kaneto Shindo doc by itself) and the 72-page booklet. "Pickpocket" just had the standard single disc case.

I had my fingers crossed for a fat digipak set; though those things are terribly fragile. I'm off to rearrange my shelf in anticipation. Thanks for sharing this!

You wouldn't happen to have checked the Pickpocket box for for any new, or expanded specs, would you?

Got my Le Samourai today from amazon, and Wages of Fear should arrive tomorrow.

On Ugetsu, I can't wait to see that packaging now, I love it when they do something special ala Man Who Fell to Earth. I'll always find the room on my shelf

I looked at the back cover briefly, and don't remember anything to drastically different from the posted specs. Maybe a little more detail regarding the booklet (which I've promptly forgotten about).

Sorry to disappoint.

Nice that Criterion is embracing digipaks again. Hope to see Ran as well.

David Hannah at CD-WOW was kind enough to inform me that CD-WOW will be stocking this months Criterion releases in a few days, which is a relief.

Of course, I would read that email after a ordered November's releases from Digital Eyes after learninging Ugetsu was in stock there! Never mind.
