A Blu-ray.com user asked Arrow about any possible Sony acquisitions and they replied:

Anyone received The Driver yet and care to comment on A/V quality? Thanks.

I don't know of any reviews yet, but Bruce Kimmel had this to say about the transfer (he often gets previews of the discs before release):
I think this transfer is going to garner a lot of the usual chatter. There is a lot of crawling grain in the low-light pushed sequences, just as their should be. Once you're in sunlight or bright light, then blacks are deep and contrast is as it should be. But I think a lot of the wags are going to think they're seeing "noise" - they're not, but they'll think they are. I saw the film several times when it was released, and this is pretty much what it looked like. It's a brand new transfer done this year and I thought it looked great, just like a 1978 film should look shot under these conditions and on this budget. The color is fantastic, the sound excellent mono.

Just for fun, I then put on the DVD and all I can say is wow. No texture, no detail, no grain, just DNR and edge enhancement that is so strong even I could see it. That, BTW, is not what The Driver should look like and boy am I glad they did this fresh transfer.

My copy of The Driver arrived in London today, which is a pretty quick delivery. Going to watch it tonight but just had a look and the transfer is, unsurprisingly, light years ahead of my ten-year old UK DVD, which had appalling picture quality even by 2003 standards.

Apparently they did not license the Columbia picture 'Obsession' from Sony. They were able to include the documentary from the Sony R1 DVD.

Anyone seen it? It sounds like minor Malle.

To give credit where it's due : that Drums Along The Mohawk cover is the best one Twilight Time has ever done.

A heads up...less than 300 copies remain of TT's upcoming Bluray of De Palma's Body Double. It's gonna sell out today, so get it while you can!

Or save that money for a region free Blu player (they are rare and an ass to find, but exist) and just getting the better RB equivilent.

There is no region B equivalent, this is the films Blu-ray debut.

Arrow have said they have no plans to release it at the moment. They have said they will keep trying to get a hold of it, but that Sony UK do not have a distribution deal with them (or any label, for that matter)

Generally I would agree, but this title has no release in other regions. I know Arrow is putting out definitive editions of several De Palma titles, but they have explicitly stated they DO NOT have licensing rights for Body Double. Word is the new transfer looks incredible (from a 4K scan,) so if you're at all a fan of this incredibly interesting film, I'd not hesitate to bite.

Buy it now, and if you decide later that you don't want it, sell it for $100.

Does Twilight Time charge you immediately for pre-orders, or when they ship? Yes, I know it's only a difference of one week, I just want to make sure.

When I preordered Christine, they charged me immediately. I believe they only make titles available for preorder a few weeks prior to the release date.
