Criterion's new 'announcement window' is tearing us apart.

Between this, Blu Ray and Rivette...we won't have a Forum left.

I still didn't get why there no "real" announcements last month.

Was there something to "get?" I thought it had been covered numerous times that the only new releases for December were the Kurosawa box and the Gimme Shelter blu-ray. The official line is that's all they have the capacity for.

Holy crap guys, Criterion has announced that it's probably going to make announcements tomorrow!

I'm thankful that Opera has the option to auto-reload every five seconds!

Too Early; mid next week, probably.

Maybe a childish question: has Criterion ever postponed anything? I really do not know the answer to this.

Criterion postponed Grand Illusion for over a year. There have been a few cases where releases were delayed for a week or two, but even these delays a uncommon.

Around the time Criterion started releasing Blu-rays, they had to push back a bunch of their slate by a month.

Ran on Blu-ray was outright cancelled as well a month or so before release day

There have been quite a few release date delays of a week or two. I don't think anyone's kept track of them because they were pretty inconsequential.

I think it was even delayed twice : once between the announcement and the release, and once when just released, to tweak the cover art (though the 2nd time, it was available if you pre-ordered it).

That one still hurts to think about. That Studio Canal release is awful!

Makes one wonder how many copies were pressed of "Ran" before it was pulled, if any at all.

Probably none. It was announced 2/13/09 for a 5/12/09 release, canceled 3/24/09 or earlier.

I believe Viridiana was delayed a while in order to feature an interview with Silvia Pinal (and of course to change the controversial cover art  ).

CC answered this question.... Will announcements be today or pushed back a day because of Columbus Day? CC said, "Looks like tomorrow."..,Since when does Mr. Columbus make CC alter their plans.

It's more likely due to today being a release day and not overshadowing Eyes without a face.
