I think she's adorbs, and she'll do just fine. She's got some natural brass in her voice that cuts through the sweetness. I'm hoping she'll do a double-thumbed string shimmy in homage to Harpo.

Nice to see that PTA is still a director shooting features on film, though as per the IMDB, it's a return to 35mm instead of 65mm. Also according to the IMDB, it's his second film in 1.85:1 after his first five were all in Scope. I wonder if there will be any chances of seeing this in a 35mm print, whenever it's released in the UK?

I wouldn't be completely certain that any of those details (aside from 35mm, which was confirmed), are true. IMDB isn't tremendously reliable with something like aspect ratio information prior to a film's release.

Either you meant Zodiac was 450 feet or Anderson beat him by 220 feet.

First impression from an industry insider is glowing, will likely not be ready in time for Cannes despite enthusiastic courting

Mix together The Big Lebowski and [Robert] Altman's The Long Goodbye and turn it into a two-and-a-half hour PT Anderson epic and you're getting close to the awesome experience of Inherent Vice. Even Joaquin Phoenix's performance has echoes of '70s Elliot Gould with a touch of The Dude. But don't get me wrong, the film is its own animal. A drug-fueled detective story filled with great psychedelic music and beautiful, grainy cinematography. It's both hilarious and confounding at times. But Anderson does an incredible job of making the incredibly complex plot both comprehensible and entertaining. Even though he's apparently said he's still tinkering, it felt like a finished film and will definitely go down as one of my favorites of his.

Films can play at festivals well in advance of their theatrical release dates, and the programmers at Cannes were courting PTA hard for this one as editing has dwindled to more of a tinkering stage (some industry insiders have seen a near-finished cut). So it's relevant to mention that it won't be playing there. The reason the release date is what it is: Awards consideration and attention, particularly because American Hustle was released that same weekend last year and folks at Warner Bros are likely going to try to capitalize on the pulpy period picture similarity.
