Re: Fox Catalog Titles on Blu
I get where you're coming from, but I guess Warner is still the major studio putting out the biggest number of classic titles on blu-ray. Just this year we've got two silent films (The Jazz Singer and The Big Parade), and that's quite a big deal.

So Fox can conclude, once and for all, that nobody is interested in purchasing old films on BluRay?domino harvey wrote:Oh god, why?

Re: Fox Catalog Titles on Blu
They seriously have the weirdest release priorities. Pawn Leaver Her to Heaven off on Twilight Time but put out A Letter to Three Wives? On the Riveria over, uh, any other Fox musical? Why couldn't they go esoteric in a good direction and do Daddy Long Legs or at least go for a better Lang (and a more visible title) like Can Can?

Those decisions bug me too. I wonder if whoever makes the shots would have any arguments for them.

I don't hate "On the Riviera", but agree there's a lot better that could come out instead of that. I suppose Fox might claim that Danny Kaye has 'family appeal' courtesy of "White Christmas", "Hans Christian Andersen", "The Court Jester", etc., and is therefore easier to sell than someone with more esoteric appeal like Fred Astaire. I don't quite get the attraction of "A Letter to 3 Wives" over something like "Leave Her to Heaven", unless it might be using Mankiewicz's double Oscar win as a selling point.

You're not wrong. It's terrible, but it's got plenty of chutzpah so I sort of love it. That bright red, swooping numeral '3' makes it look like the second sequel, and I love how one of Eve's three faces is a nose, basically.

And their selection of titles never cease to amaze.

At least this is a fun one (good being a relative term with this director).

Yeah, Nunnally Johnson's work behind the camera can be indulgently reliant on his scripts, but Woodward is good and her win was one of the best dark horse winners for Best Actress ever

Has there been a delay on The King of Comedy? I thought it was suppose to get a release the end of October.

Yes. I suspect they're waiting on a release date of The Wolf of Wall Street to time it with.FrauBlucher wrote:Has there been a delay on The King of Comedy? I thought it was suppose to get a release the end of October.

There's a December release date attached to it on Amazon.ca, for whatever that's worth.

Hey, remember this, from January?
The results finally get released December 3, available exclusively from Foxconnect.com. Wheeee! Priced at $24.99 each, but it looks like they're currently available for pre-order at a non-unreasonable $15.99.captveg wrote:For those unaware, Fox has teamed up with the Home Theater Forum to poll for which titles to release next from the 1930s-60s. It's also getting released in France for 14.99€ each. However, I don't know if ALL 8 of them will be released, but I know Mrs Muir and North to Alaska at least will.

I have a feeling that it will be way too depressing to go back and find out which films were passed up in favour of these. North to Alaska is just excruciating, but I guess the John Wayne cultists couldn't care less.Matt wrote:Hey, remember this, from January? The results finally get released December 3, available exclusively from Foxconnect.com.
