There's diffuculties with a Rossellini WAR TRILOGY in accessing satisfactory source elements, I believe... Was reason bfi cited re. possibilty of same package on r2 dvd by them...

More likely is a STROMBOLI/VOYAGE IN ITALY/EUROPA 51/FEAR set, although that is pure speculation... All we know is that EUROPA 51 is on the cards...

The former, I'd say. Great Adaptations is the still-very-much-in-print (as far as I know!) 4 disc 'gift set'.

What is the possiblity of Criterion obtaining this Godard interview with Woody Allen and putting it as a special feature on a Godard title in the future? I haven't had the chance to see this, but it sounds incredible especially if you are partial to either director.

The only Godard film it would really be paired with (without seeming completely arbitrary) is King Lear, so unless Criterion releases that I'd say the odds are about the same as Criterion releasing any other Godard short film.

Being Rene Chateau, it's just as likely that it was released, then withdrawn a few months later. They seem to do that with a fair number of their titles. Something to do with their licensing agreement, I suppose.

Here, in fact, is an internet posting from someone who bought the DVD, and is complaining about the lack of French subtitles in the German-speaking scenes:

Actually I think it's being released in 2006, by Warner (just as all pre-1986 MGM titles, which now belong to Ted Turner).

I'd be really happy if Warner also releases There was a crooked man... uncut ! Because each time this movie is aired on French TV, the naked lady at the end gets less and less naked...

But why not the R2 only titles as well? 2 or 3 Things, Made in USA, La Chinoise, Passion, Prenom: Carmen, Detective.... and dare I say King Lear as well?

2 or 3 Things I Know About Her will eventually be released by Criterion on DVD after Rialto is done with their re-release, which I believe was originally scheduled for the end of the year, but has probably been bumped into next year. I'd say it could be a possibility in late 2006, or maybe as a January issue in 2007. They also have Pierrot in the works.

Ok folks, Viridiana is strangly spine #322, which leaves 5 empty spaces. Now tell that this isn't a box set coming? Eisenstein, Ozu, Malle probably?

Take away one spine number for the box itself. If it is in fact a box set, it'll be a four-filmer.
