Quite right, Domino. But at least we don't have Bob Furmanek and his associated loons dropping in at the moment.

Bob Furmanek is a man I have a huge amount of respect for. We should be uniting against the common enemy...Richard W!!!

Quite right; though sanity can be quite a subjective issue, there's no doubting the credentials, the knowledge and sheer enthusiasm of Bob.

Maybe because the name itself, Twilight Time, implies negativity.

Don't people here remember Bob Furmanek and his pals raving against the beloved David Hare and others about "Touch of Evil", Douglas Sirk, and so on?
Well, I bloody well do and I say they are loons. So shoot me.

What, the aspect ratio stuff? Well, Bob is 90% correct about ARs and his critics are hampered by their obbsession with decades of 4:3 tv and video transfers.

I've never said anything there I wouldn't say here. This forum has a value but I've never felt it was a particularly friendly or welcoming place, with a few notable exceptions. Many of the concepts I've heard applied to HTF apply equally here (lack of tolerance to contrary opinion etc).

I just try to be civil and speak my mind knowing that it's often akin to pissing into the wind. C'est la vie.

Guess the new releases, round 2 clue:
The Grant of the 20th has a cameo of sorts.

Cary Grant and 20th Century Fox:
Born to Be Bad
Monkey Business
People Will Talk
I Was a Male War Bride
Kiss Them for Me
An Affair to Remember
?

Edit: People Will Talk seems to have an uncredited cameo by Margaret Hamilton.

I think you may be a bit harsh here. I have noted Moe's presence here and on the other forum - I don't know much about him as a person or his history, but I have felt that he has been a conciliatory presence in some of the recent heated discussions. I may not agree with everything he says, but I appreciate his presence nonetheless.

I don't spend a lot of time looking at HTF, but I haven't noticed any sniping about us from Moe. He seems like a good guy, and has put up with all of our shit-giving.

I don't really have any problem with Furmanek either. I don't agree with him or his unwavering adherence to the trades 100% of the time, but he does far more good than harm. Most importantly, he has smacked that smarmy fuck Jeff Wells down several times, and the enemy of my enemy is my friend or whatever.

Outside of aspect ratio research, Bob has also restored many films (yes, even non 3D ones), which I'm sure all here will agree is something to commend him for.

Thanks for the supportive replies, they are appreciated.

Perkins, I have to say I think that it is more fun. The goal of the game isn't to suck all the fun out with brute force type guesses, but to have some fun while guessing. I think earlier you put something up. About minimal discussion but that wasn't how I ran my game if you see the thread, I replied to every guess of a title, and had we continued would have answered the daily question and given another clue the next day.

The game had failed in their eyes before because it didn't last. Ron and I brainstormed ways to allow the game to go on far longer and hopefully be more fun for more members over time before the title was figured out. The idea of having a minimum post count to participate was actually mine. This forum has a minimum post count for unmoderated participation as well...

People seemed to enjoy the recent Arrow guessing game - and in the process it threw up quite a few other interesting names whose rights situation might be worth investigating.

And the biggest prize with the Arrow example is that the thing you're trying to guess is actually an incredibly exciting release. La Bamba, not so much, unless you've never seen a bargain bin.

Couldn't the TT "Game" or any Internet guessing game last longer if whoever was running it didn't say "Hey, that's right" until at least a couple days had passed?

It's all a game to Twilight Time. Let's see how long it goes before they stop the games because someone is scooping everything else before others can participate.

No one has guessed the second release as yet. The three clues are:
Clue 1: The Grant of the 20th has a cameo of sorts.

Clue 2: Joe Eszterhas comes again.

Clue 3: The man who chopped the lady gets unflattering treatment.

That was my thought after Eszterhas too, but the clues have become so obtuse that it's impossible to tell. Even the HTF faithful seem to be done with the nonsense.
